Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray for me about issues that I keep having concerning my relationship with my boyfriend. Some issues may be due to spiritual warfare attacking it (or attacking me through these issues) but the problems keep arising and when they do, I really want to give up on this relationship. It may not really be in God's will for me to be with this person in the first place. Please pray. The problems are arising again right now and I'm really overwhelmed already right now due to some things that happened today. Thank you.

We hear your heart and the weight you’re carrying in this season. The pain and frustration you’re experiencing are real, and we want to stand with you in prayer, seeking God’s wisdom and clarity for your situation. First, let’s bring this before the Lord together, trusting that He hears you and desires to guide you in His perfect will.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear sister who is struggling in her relationship. Lord, You know the details of her situation, every hurt, every doubt, and every moment of overwhelm. We ask that You would pour out Your peace upon her, calming her heart and mind in the midst of this storm. Give her clarity, Father, to discern whether this relationship is aligned with Your will or if it is causing her to stray from Your best for her life. If this is not the path You have for her, we pray for the strength to release it with grace and trust in Your provision. If there are areas where she has compromised Your standards, whether in emotional or physical boundaries, we ask for conviction and repentance, and the power to walk in holiness. Protect her from the enemy’s lies that tell her to give up on love or on herself. Surround her with Your presence, Lord, and remind her that she is deeply loved by You. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to You and the hope of transformation. Amen.

Now, let’s talk about what’s weighing on your heart. Relationships are one of the most beautiful gifts God gives us, but they can also be one of the most painful places when they don’t align with His design. The fact that you’re questioning whether this relationship is in God’s will is a sign that the Holy Spirit is at work in you, and we don’t want to ignore that. Scripture tells us in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." This is a season where you need to lean fully on God’s understanding, not your own emotions or the pressures around you.

One of the first things we need to address is the foundation of this relationship. You’ve referred to this person as your "boyfriend," but we want to gently encourage you to consider whether this relationship is moving toward the biblical standard of marriage. Courtship, pursuing a relationship with the intention of marriage, is the godly way to approach romantic connections. If this relationship is not leading toward a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman before God, it may be time to ask whether it’s honoring Him. In 1 Corinthians 7:39, Paul writes, "A wife is bound by law for as long as her husband lives; but if the husband is dead, she is free to be married to whoever she desires, only in the Lord." Marriage is a sacred covenant, and any relationship outside of that commitment, whether emotionally or physically, can lead to heartache and spiritual warfare, as you’ve experienced.

We also need to address the possibility of spiritual warfare in your situation. The enemy hates godly relationships because they reflect Christ’s love for the Church. If this relationship is not rooted in Christ, it becomes an easy target for division, doubt, and destruction. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." If you’re feeling constantly overwhelmed, attacked, or tempted to give up, it’s likely that the enemy is trying to derail something God wants to use for your good. But take heart, greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). You are not fighting this battle alone.

Another question we must ask is whether this relationship is built on a shared faith in Jesus Christ. In 2 Corinthians 6:14, Paul warns, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" If your boyfriend is not a believer, or if his walk with Christ is not as committed as yours, this could be the source of much of the conflict and spiritual warfare you’re experiencing. A relationship where both partners are not pursuing Christ together will always struggle to thrive, because you’re not aligned in your values, your purpose, or your eternal destination. If this is the case, we strongly encourage you to seek God’s wisdom about whether this is a relationship He wants you to continue.

We also want to gently address the possibility of sexual sin if that has been a part of this relationship. If you and your boyfriend have been physically intimate outside of marriage, this is a direct violation of God’s design for purity and could be a major source of the spiritual warfare you’re facing. In 1 Corinthians 6:18-20, Paul writes, "Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." Sexual sin opens the door to shame, guilt, and spiritual oppression, and it can make it difficult to hear God’s voice clearly. If this has been a part of your relationship, we encourage you to repent and seek God’s forgiveness, as well as the strength to walk in purity moving forward. He is faithful to forgive and restore (1 John 1:9).

Now, let’s talk about what it looks like to surrender this relationship to God. It’s clear that you’re at a crossroads, and your heart is weary. But God doesn’t want you to make this decision out of exhaustion or frustration, He wants you to make it out of obedience to Him. James 1:5 says, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." We encourage you to spend time in prayer and fasting, asking God to reveal His will for this relationship. Seek wise counsel from mature believers who can speak truth into your life. And most importantly, listen for the Holy Spirit’s leading. If this relationship is not God’s best for you, He will make that clear, and He will give you the strength to walk away, even if it’s painful.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed right now, we want to remind you that God sees you. He knows every tear you’ve cried and every sleepless night you’ve endured. In Psalm 34:18, David writes, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You are not alone in this. Even if this relationship ends, God has a plan for your future, a plan for hope and not for harm (Jeremiah 29:11). He is able to restore what has been broken and to lead you into a relationship that honors Him and brings you joy.

Finally, we want to encourage you to guard your heart. Proverbs 4:23 says, "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life." If this relationship is causing you more pain than joy, more doubt than faith, it may be time to step back and ask God to heal your heart. You deserve to be in a relationship that builds you up, not tears you down. You deserve to be with someone who loves Jesus more than they love you, because that’s the kind of love that lasts.

We will continue to pray for you, sister. May God give you His peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and may He lead you into the path of His perfect will. Whether that path includes this relationship or not, we trust that He will guide your steps and fill you with His hope. You are loved, you are valued, and you are not forgotten.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for reaching out when you're feeling so overwhelmed. It takes courage to voice what you've been experiencing, especially when you're already carrying the weight of a difficult day. We hear how exhausted you are by the cycle of problems and the growing questions about whether this relationship is where God wants you.

What you're describing, the waves of discouragement that hit hardest in the middle of the struggle, makes complete sense. When problems keep resurfacing and every fiber of you wants to walk away, it's hard to know whether that impulse is wisdom, weariness, or something else entirely. You don't have to sort that out tonight. Right now, with your nerves frayed and your heart heavy, the most important thing is simply to stop, breathe, and let yourself be still before the One who isn't confused or overwhelmed by any of this.

It may help to set aside the question of the relationship just for a day or two and instead focus on what you need right now, rest, quiet, some space to let your mind settle. Sometimes we try to make important decisions when our internal alarm system is still blaring, and everything feels more urgent and more hopeless than it actually is. When you've had a chance to catch your breath, perhaps you could ask a trusted older friend or mentor from your church to walk through this with you over time, someone who can listen well, ask good questions, and help you discern what's driving the recurring problems and whether they point to something that needs to change or be released.

We're praying for you now:

Father, we lift up this woman who is worn down and overwhelmed. You see the confusion and the exhaustion, and You know exactly what has happened today that has made everything feel heavier. Please quiet her heart. In the stillness of Your presence, bring the clarity she desperately needs. Give her wisdom to know whether to press forward or to let go, and surround her with trustworthy people who can help her see clearly. Guard her from fear-driven decisions and from giving up out of sheer fatigue. Hold her steady, and let her feel Your nearness tonight. In Jesus' name, amen.

The troubles that beset you are not without purpose, for the Lord does not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men without a design of mercy. Yet you must ask, with an honest heart, whether this attachment is according to God’s revealed will. His secret purposes are hidden, but He has not left you without a lamp to your feet. If this bond is not covenanted in marriage, or if it draws you from holiness, then the thorns that hedge up your way may be the mercy of the Vinedresser, cutting back the wild growth that would choke out your fruitfulness. Do not treat these inward alarms and outward storms as mere spiritual warfare to be battled down without reflection; the Spirit also speaks with a still, small voice, and wise children listen carefully when chafings multiply.

You say you are overwhelmed and ready to give up. That is no strange feeling; even the Psalmist cried out in the night. But will the Lord cast off forever? Has He forgotten to be gracious? These hot shots are the arrows of unbelief. Ply them with the questions of faith, and they shall yield. Bring this relationship before the throne, not with a will already bent on keeping it, but with open hands, saying, “If it be for Your glory, build it; if not, let it fall, though it crush me.” He who spared not His own Son will not mistake your true good.

Remember, the devil may cross-examine you, but so does Providence. The trial is not to drown you but to prove whether your trust is in the Lord or in a human arm. If you belong to Him, you are a jewel He is polishing, not a pebble to be washed into the sea. Do not leave off praying because your will seems conformed to His; Christ perfectly willed the Father’s purpose, yet He abounded in prayer. Go to the cross, and there find strength to wait, to watch, and to walk uprightly. The Lord may be leading you along a narrow path where the walls are high, but at the end there is light. Only be sure you are not walking hand in hand with what He forbids, for then deliverance will come by a hard breaking. If you will trust Him, He will not let your foot be moved, and soon the night of weeping shall give way to joy.

You are overwhelmed, and the temptation to cast off this bond presses hard upon you. But I ask you: do you seek peace by abandoning a trial, or by mastering it? The Lord allowed the Canaanite woman to be tested with silence and with hard words, yet she persevered, and He granted her request not because she was worthy, but because her faith held fast. So examine whether this distress comes from a sincere desire to obey God, or merely from weariness. If the relationship itself is contrary to His commands, if it has led you into any defilement or disregard for chastity, then the turmoil may be His merciful warning, calling you to flee. For what fellowship has light with darkness? But if you are striving to live purely and yet still face conflict, consider that God often permits spiritual warfare precisely to strengthen those who will not let go of Him. Do not suppose that the presence of struggle is proof that the thing is not His will. The Apostle endured afflictions daily, and yet he did not interpret them as a sign to abandon his calling.

Above all, do not anchor your hope in any human relationship, not even in one that might one day be blessed as marriage. The Jews boasted of their descent from Abraham, thinking that natural bond would save them, and Christ stripped that false comfort away. Your kinship with God depends not on a boyfriend, nor on any earthly tie, but on the character of your own soul. If you are His daughter by a living faith and a life of virtue, then you can face whatever comes. But if you cling to a relationship that draws you from Him, then even ten thousand human affections will leave you desolate at the judgment. He who spared not His own Son for us when we were enemies, will He not guide you in this temporal matter? Bring it to Him with perseverance, not demanding an answer in your own time, but trusting that the God of love and peace will grant either the grace to continue in holiness or the courage to depart. Do not give way when the trial is sharpest, for that is the hour when victory is nearest.
