Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray for my boyfriend and I. We are in courtship and want to marry within a year if the Lord wills and we are compatible. But we are long distance, a few hours away from each other. We both work together and because of our job's strict attendance policies, it will be a while before we can meet in person and get time off to do so. In order for me to marry him, I need to be able to spend time with him in person at least five times and my family would need to spend that much time with him as well. Please pray that God would allow this and also lead my boyfriend to realizing this as I'm not sure that he does yet. Please also pray that we would be getting our affairs in order during this time and planning how we are going to combine our lives so that if we do get married, all those things will be set straight. Thank you.

We hear your heart and the desire to honor God in your courtship as you seek His will for marriage. The longing to spend time together in person and with family is wise, for marriage is a sacred covenant that requires careful preparation, not just in logistics but in spiritual unity. We rejoice that you are approaching this season with intentionality, trusting the Lord to guide your steps.

First, let us address the foundation of your relationship. Courtship should always have marriage as its goal, and it is commendable that you are both seeking God’s timing. However, we must gently remind you that the term "boyfriend" can sometimes carry connotations of a relationship that is not yet fully committed to the biblical standard of marriage. Scripture calls us to flee from even the appearance of immorality (1 Thessalonians 5:22), and so we encourage you to frame this season as one of purposeful preparation for marriage, rather than merely dating. Let your actions and words reflect the seriousness of the covenant you are considering.

The distance between you is a challenge, but not an insurmountable one. We will pray that the Lord opens doors for you both to meet in person according to your family’s wisdom and that He provides favor with your employers to grant the necessary time off. Proverbs 16:9 reminds us, "A man’s heart plans his course, but the Lord directs his steps." Trust that God is orchestrating your paths even now, and that He will make a way where there seems to be no way.

We also lift up the practical preparations you mentioned, combining your lives, aligning your finances, and setting a strong foundation for marriage. This is wise stewardship. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up." Marriage is a partnership, and it is good that you are thinking ahead about how to build that partnership on Christ.

Now, let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for this sister and her future husband. Lord, we ask that You would go before them and make a way for them to spend time together in person, as they seek to honor You in their courtship. Grant them favor with their employers and wisdom in planning their time. Father, we pray that You would unite their hearts in understanding the importance of preparation, not just for the wedding, but for the marriage covenant itself. Help them to align their lives with Your Word, to seek Your will above their own desires, and to build their relationship on the foundation of Christ.

Lord, we ask that You would reveal to this brother the importance of spending time with his future bride and her family, so that they may all grow in unity and discernment. Give them patience in this season of waiting and clarity in their communication. May they use this time to grow closer to You and to one another, so that if it is Your will for them to marry, their union would be strong, godly, and glorifying to You.

Father, we also pray for protection over their hearts and minds. Guard them against temptation, impatience, and any distractions that would pull them away from Your best for their lives. May they flee from sexual immorality and honor You with their bodies, as Your Word commands (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). Strengthen their resolve to wait until marriage to consummate their love, and fill them with Your peace as they trust in Your timing.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would prepare them both spiritually, emotionally, and practically for marriage. Help them to lay a foundation of prayer, Scripture, and mutual submission to You. May their marriage be a testimony to Your love and faithfulness, and may they always seek to glorify You in all they do. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord together in prayer and in His Word. Let this season of waiting be one of growth, both individually and as a couple. Lean on the wisdom of godly mentors and your families, and trust that God is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). If there are areas where you need to repent or realign with His will, do so without delay, for His grace is sufficient. May the Lord bless you richly as you seek to honor Him in this journey.

It can be so difficult when work constraints limit what you already know you need, real, in‑person time together. You’re not being overly cautious; the desire to spend unhurried time face‑to‑face and to let your family genuinely get to know him is sound. That’s not just a box to tick; it’s how you see each other in ordinary moments, how you witness character under a bit of pressure, and how your family can offer the kind of protective, loving perspective that only comes from being in the same room. We’re glad you’re holding that gently but firmly.

The longer‑distance part of courtship can feel like it stretches everything thin, but this season itself is doing important work. You’ve both already been learning to plan, to communicate seriously, and to dream about combining your lives in practical ways. That’s real and good, even when it feels slow.

One thing you might try together: if time off really is stuck for now, consider whether a short weekend meeting somewhere in the middle is possible, even just once. Sometimes that single visit opens the door to more creative solutions than you could see before. And while you’re both still apart, don’t underestimate the small, low‑pressure ways you can involve your family, a video call where your family can just chat with him casually, not an interview, but a chance to start building familiarity. It’s not the same as in person, but it can warm the ground.

Keep talking honestly about the importance you place on those visits. It’s okay if he doesn’t feel the weight of it yet; you’re allowed to gently, clearly share why it matters to you. God can use that conversation to grow you both in understanding one another.

We’re praying with you.

Lord, you see this couple’s desire to honor you in their courtship. Please open the way for the in‑person time they need, make a path through the strict attendance rules, provide the right days off, and protect those meetings from hurry. Give her boyfriend a clear, peaceful grasp of why these visits matter. While they wait, help them plan wisely and keep their hearts anchored in you. In Jesus’ name, amen.

You do well to bring this matter before the throne of grace, for every step of a believer’s life must be ordered by the Lord, and marriage is no light thing. It is a covenant not to be rushed into by mere affection, but to be weighed in the balances of the sanctuary. The work of salvation, and indeed all of life’s great movements, rests upon the will of God and not upon the will of man. Your desire to meet and to test this companionship by wisdom is right, yet you must hold even that desire with an open hand, saying, “If the Lord will, we shall do this or that.” Boast not of tomorrow, for you know not what a day may bring forth. He who has appointed the times and the seasons can easily clear the path or close it; your part is to trust Him and to walk in the revealed light of His Word.

While you wait, be more earnest that the Lord would work truth in your inward parts. Far weightier than arranging outward circumstances is the question: does the Spirit of God rule in both your hearts? You speak of compatibility, true compatibility is not found in shared interests alone, but in a mutual submission to the lordship of Christ, a common love for His precepts, and a desire to glorify Him whether in singleness or in marriage. If this courtship is of the Lord, He will make thorough work of it; He will not leave you to grope in uncertainty, but will guide you, even by hindrances, until His will is made plain. Remember, God’s work in the soul is honorable and glorious; do not fret about the five visits or the family’s approval as though the Almighty were bound by such numbers. Bring these requests, yes, but bring also your hearts, that He might sanctify every motive and desire.

Pray much that the Word of God would be sweet to you both in this season. That Word never cloys; it will give you an appetite for righteousness and satisfy you with wisdom. If you would have the Lord lead your boyfriend to see these practical needs, then plead the promises, but do not attempt to open his eyes by mere argument. The Holy Spirit must work in him to will and to do of God’s good pleasure. Set your own soul to seek first the kingdom, and whether you meet five times or fifty, whether the distance shrinks or grows, you will find that the peace of God garrison your heart. Our best profit, our truest gain, is doing the will of God. Let that be your chief concern as you think of combining your lives: not merely the arranging of houses and goods, but the building of a household that will honor Christ, where His Word dwells richly and His praise is continually heard.

Guard against refusing Him who speaks. Do not let the cares of this courtship, the attendance policies of your employment, or the natural anxieties about the future drown out the voice of your Beloved. The flower of earthly comfort fades, but the work of the Holy Spirit upon the heart endures forever. Look often to the cross, and ask that whatever union you form might be a manifest work of God, a living picture of Christ and the Church. Wait upon the Lord, let patience have her perfect work, and be not as those who say, “We will go,” when they ought to pray, “If the Lord will.” He knows your frame, He numbers your days, and not one sparrow falls to the ground without Him. Cast this burden upon Him, for He cares for you.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You yearn for the honorable estate of marriage, and this is no small thing. But I must call you to patience. When the righteous are near the end of their conflicts, the Lord often enhances the struggle to crown them with greater reward. The distance and the hindrances are not without purpose; they test the sincerity of your love and the depth of your faith. Do not despise this season, but use it to anchor your soul in God. Learn to wait upon His summons. We are not to rush into conflicts unbidden; we must be quiet and watch for the time of contest, that our victory may be more glorious and our enemy the more derided.

Marriage itself is not impure, but it is full of worldly occupation. Therefore prepare now with all gravity. Let your conduct be chaste, your words modest, your heart fixed on the holiness that preserves the gift of faith. Do not imitate those who bring mockery into the wedding, but let your courtship be seasoned with prayer and self-control. It is wise that you desire your family’s witness, for a wedding is a public covenant and must be entered with clarity. Yet do not be anxious to force meetings before the proper hour. Speak your desire plainly to your beloved, with gentleness and without a quarrelsome spirit, and then commit the matter to God.

You ask prayer that your affairs be set in order. That is needful, but first set your souls in order. Are you both walking in the fear of the Lord? Is your love rooted not in fleeting emotion but in the mutual help of holiness? These things require time and proving, and time you now have. Let not your hearts be troubled by the delay. If the Lord wills this marriage, He will open the door. Until then, occupy yourselves with good works, grow in virtue, and put no confidence in your own schemes. The beatitudes are spoken to married and unmarried alike; the path of life is the same for all. Stand firm, then, and watch for the hand of God.

The yearning to build a life together is a beautiful and serious thing, and it is right to bring these desires before the Lord. Your practical desire to spend meaningful time together and to integrate your lives is born of wisdom, not doubt. A marriage is a structure meant to display God’s glory, and like the temple, it requires carefully hewn stones. The builders of old were filled with a divine wisdom of heart to work all manner of work, and that same God can give you both the practical understanding to plan, to save, and to weave your two separate lives into one fabric, even now.

Yet, there is a deeper work happening in this season of enforced distance. It is tempting to lay out a time frame and then feel as if the Lord missed His opportunity when things do not move on our schedule. We can cry out, “It is now four o’clock; You are too late.” But God often does His most profound work when we are not in control. The slow wait is not an empty delay; it is the field in which His Spirit cultivates the fruit of maturity, patience, and the quiet trust that Jesus Himself is in control of the timeline. The longing to be together physically is a mirror of a deeper spiritual truth: your relationship in Christ must be the primary bond first. The bond we have together in the Lord is deeper than any natural family tie, and it is the only anchor sturdy enough to hold two lives together across the miles.

It seems the immediate obstacle feels as immovable as those great stones that make you marvel at how they could ever be set in place. You need time off, he needs a particular realization, and doors seem shut. But remember, under the law, God made a specific provision for Himself to work when He desired. Leprosy was incurable except by a divine act of grace, and He left room for that very act. Your situation is not incurable to the One who hems us in. Let us never try to put God in a box. The strict attendance policy is a reality, but it is a small thing for the Lord to open a window or to prepare a manager’s heart to find a way. We pray for that.

While you wait, do not fall into the trap of being a long-distance Christian, following far off from the heat of the battle. The wilderness of singleness and separation can be a place where God purifies and establishes you as a witness. Do not just use this time to passively wait for a wedding; use it to do the transforming work of receiving the Word. As you do, the fruit of the Spirit will just radiate from your lives, preparing you both to serve one another in a lifelong covenant rather than a self-centered partnership.

We pray for the doors of time and proximity to be unlocked, and for the Spirit to stir his heart to see the vital importance of being present with you and your family. We also pray for that great, unseen work to be accomplished in the hidden places of your character. May your affairs be set in order, but even more, may your hearts be bound together in the bonds of His love, finding their rest in the truth that the Lord has made this day, and we can rejoice and be glad in it.

We are so grateful that you entrusted us with the privilege of standing in prayer with you and your boyfriend during this special season of courtship. It’s a beautiful thing to seek the Lord’s will together as you discern His timing for marriage, and we’ve been lifting up your hearts before Him—asking for wisdom, patience, and clarity as you navigate this long-distance relationship.

We’ve been praying specifically that God would open doors for the two of you to spend meaningful time together in person, just as you and your family desire. May He soften hearts, provide opportunities, and align schedules in ways that honor Him and strengthen your bond. We’ve also been asking the Lord to guide your boyfriend’s understanding of your family’s wishes and to give both of you unity in your vision for the future.

As you continue to prepare for the possibility of marriage, we’ve been interceding for God’s order and peace in your lives—asking that He help you both steward your time, resources, and plans wisely. May He knit your hearts together in purpose and fill you with confidence in His leading.

If the Lord has already answered any of these prayers in ways you’ve seen or felt, we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you. If you’re still waiting and longing for His hand to move, please don’t hesitate to post this request again so we can continue to stand with you in faith. Either way, we’re here to lift you up as you seek Him together.

May God bless you both abundantly as you walk this path, trusting in His perfect timing and His good plans for your lives. We pray all these things in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.
