boldness

We join you in praying for boldness and confidence, and we thank God that you have brought this desire before Him, for He delights to give strength to those who ask.

The boldness you seek does not come from our own personality or willpower, but from the Holy Spirit dwelling within us. Scripture says, For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, 2 Timothy 1:7. And again, The righteous are as bold as a lion, Proverbs 28:1. When the early church prayed for boldness, God answered powerfully, for they prayed, Now, Lord, look at their threats, and grant to your servants to speak your word with all boldness, Acts 4:29, and the place was shaken where they were gathered together, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and they spoke the word of God with boldness, Acts 4:31.

True confidence also comes from knowing who we are in Christ and that He is with us. We are told, Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go, Joshua 1:9. And, In him we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him, Ephesians 3:12.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently share why His name is so essential. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and confidence to come before His throne. Jesus Himself said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. So we pray and are saved only in His name, believing that Jesus died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, as it is written, that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved, Romans 10:9.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this dear one who is asking for boldness and confidence, and we ask that You fill them anew with Your Holy Spirit. Remove all fear and timidity and replace it with Your power, love, and self-control. Grant them boldness to speak Your truth in love, to stand firm in faith, and to walk confidently in the calling You have given them, not with pride in themselves but with humble confidence in Christ who strengthens them. Help them to remember that You are with them wherever they go and that they can approach Your throne with boldness because of the blood of Jesus. Deepen their faith in Jesus, and let them know the assurance of salvation and the peace that comes from belonging to You. May they grow strong in Your Word and be as bold as a lion for Your glory. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek Him daily in prayer and in His Word, for boldness grows as we abide in Christ and trust His promises. Keep asking, keep seeking, and He will make you strong and courageous for every good work He has prepared for you.

We are grateful you brought this request so plainly. Wanting boldness and confidence is something we all understand, especially when nerves or self doubt make it hard to speak or step forward.

We have found boldness rarely starts as a big feeling of bravery. More often it grows as we practice small faithful choices, even while still feeling a little shaky. Patience with ourselves matters, learning to notice fear without having to obey it, and then choosing one right next step. Over time our attitudes often follow our actions, and confidence steadies as we see God is trustworthy when we rely on Him.

One simple way to practice this week might be to pick one everyday situation where you usually hold back, pause to ask God for help, and take one small step forward with kindness and honesty. It could be speaking up, offering help, or saying no where you need to. Not forcing it, just a quiet, steady practice.

We are praying with you for that kind of growing steadiness.

Jesus, we lift our friend to you and ask for a calm, steady confidence rooted in your nearness. Give courage for the next step in front of them, and peace as they trust you with the outcome. Amen.

You have prayed for boldness and confidence, and it is a prayer which God delights to answer, for He has Himself invited you to come with boldness.

Scripture says, Let us come boldly unto the throne of grace. We have such a throne because Jesus Christ has opened the way by His precious blood. Always pray with your windows open towards Calvary, gazing steadfastly upon the risen Lord. There is the reason for your confidence. You do not come as a stranger but as a child of God by faith in Christ Jesus, and a child may ask his Father for what he needs in a bold and yet respectful manner, and the Father is pleased to supply it.

Learn this, that self confidence goes when confidence in Christ comes in. Little faith tries to add something of its own to Jesus, and so it is too bold one day and too timid another, but great faith takes Jesus only as her basis and finds all its strength in Him. Your boldness must not rest in yourself, or your own prayers or works, but wholly and entirely upon the finished work of Christ. Faith is a connection with Christ, like a rope He holds from the shore, and when you lay hold of it with the hand of confidence He pulls you to Himself.

Take up then the shield of faith, for it will guard both head and heart. When the enemy says your confidence is vain, faith answers that you have not seen the righteous forsaken. When temptation comes, faith holds up the promise of the future and gives you access with confidence unto the mercy seat. Because the Holy Spirit has inwrought principles of faith in you, you shall be sustained in the time of trial, as Daniel was, whose love to his God had become part and parcel of himself.

So walk in Him as you have received Him, with joy and meekness and confidence and boldness, carrying out into practical effect that which you believe. Be of good courage. Though your faith may feel as little as a babe as yet, the vessel in which you have embarked is safe and you will get to shore.

My prayer for you is that the Lord will increase your faith, that you may know you are His child through Jesus Christ alone, and that He will teach you by His Spirit how to pray, giving you holy boldness to ask great things at the throne of grace, and quiet confidence to trust Him whether He delivers in the way you hope or calls you to be a sacrifice for Jesus sake, still well content in His will. May He make Christ real to you, and keep you looking unto Him, till boldness and confidence become your daily walk. Amen.
