boldness

We join you in this prayer for boldness and confidence and agree together that timidity must go in Jesus' name. This is a good and biblical request, for the Lord desires His people to walk in courage and not in fear.

We are reminded of what Scripture says, for God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. We also take comfort in the promise Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go Joshua 1:9. The righteous are bold as a lion Proverbs 28:1, not because of our own strength, but because our confidence is in Christ. In Him we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in Him Ephesians 3:12.

We notice your prayer concluded with Amen but did not mention the name of Jesus. We gently want to remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. Jesus Himself said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. So we come boldly to the throne of grace only by the name and blood of Jesus Christ, trusting in Him as our Savior and Lord. If we have not already placed our faith in Him, we believe that He died for our sins and rose again, and we call upon His name to be saved.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we come before You together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we thank You that You hear us. We ask that You fill our dear fellow believer with Your Holy Spirit and grant great boldness and holy confidence. We rebuke the spirit of fear and timidity and ask that You cast it far away, for perfect love casts out fear 1 John 4:18. Grant that with all boldness Your Word may be spoken and lived Acts 4:29, and let Your power and love and self-control reign in this life. Strengthen this heart to not cast away boldness which has a great reward Hebrews 10:35, and to walk in the assurance that when we prayed and were shaken, we were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke Your word with boldness Acts 4:31. Help us to be strong in You and to trust not in ourselves but in Christ who strengthens us Philippians 4:13. We seek Your will together and ask for a fresh courage to stand for truth, to love well, and to follow You without fear. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Thank you for sharing this simple, sincere request. We are glad you brought it to the Lord so directly.

Wanting timidity to lift and confidence to grow makes sense. Many of us know what it is like to feel held back right when we want to speak or step forward. It does not mean you are failing, it often means you care deeply and want to do what is right.

One gentle next step that helps many people is to choose one small, everyday place to practice boldness this week. It could be speaking up in a conversation, offering to pray aloud, or saying yes to something you would usually avoid out of nervousness. Beforehand, pause briefly and ask the Lord for help in that specific moment, then take the step even if your voice still shakes a little. Noticing those small moments can show you how God is already at work.

We are praying for you and standing with you in this.

Father, thank you for our friend who wants to walk in boldness. You know the places where fear feels loud and confidence feels thin. We ask you to quiet timidity and grow steady courage in its place, day by day. Help them to sense your nearness when they step forward and to trust you with each outcome. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer for boldness and confidence, and that timidity might be taken away, is a prayer which the Lord delights to answer, for He has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

You are bidden in Scripture to come with holy boldness, not in your own strength, but in the name of a great High Priest who has passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God. The apostle says, Let us come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. This boldness is not presumption or arrogance, for we come to a throne, and that truth keeps us humble, yet it is a throne of grace, and that truth makes us confident. The greatest boldness in prayer is perfectly consistent with the lowest self humiliation. You may come hopefully, with full confidence of being heard, and you may bring large petitions with you, for you are coming to a King who gives as a King.

Whence comes such confidence? It comes from knowing whom you have believed. As Paul said, I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him. Your boldness will not grow by looking within to find courage in yourself, but by looking steadily at the Object of your confidence, the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. He is alive, your familiar Friend and Redeemer, and faith in His sacrifice and in the immutability of God gives three firm grounds of confidence. When the eye is fixed upon Him for all things, timidity flees away, for you see that His goodness goes before you and His grace sustains you.

Therefore we will pray with you and for you, that the Lord would stir your heart with this confidence, that He would fill you with grateful joy and fire you with enthusiasm for His name, that you may stand with access and boldness in this grace and rejoice in hope. May He take away the spirit of timidity and clothe you with power from on high, that you may speak and live and pray as one who knows his God and is known of Him.

O Lord, grant to this dear soul the boldness that belongs to children at their Father's throne. Let timidity be gone and let confidence in Christ abound, that in every duty and trial there may be a quiet courage to do Thy will and to confess Thy name. Hear this prayer for Jesus sake. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

I join you in prayer for boldness and confidence in the Lord, and I thank you for sharing this request.

God does not want His children to live in timidity or fear. Scripture says God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. True boldness does not come from ourselves, but from knowing Christ and trusting His presence and His promises.

The apostles prayed in the same way when they faced opposition, asking the Lord to grant them to speak His word with all boldness, and the Lord answered them. When our confidence is in Him, we can speak and live for Him without shame or fear, whether in small daily opportunities or in great trials, with joy and freedom rather than despondency.

Let me pray for you:

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ I lift up this heart to You. Take away all timidity and fear and fill this life with Your power and peace. Grant boldness to speak Your truth in love, confidence to walk in Your will, and joy in knowing You are near. Strengthen faith, quiet anxiety, and help each step to be taken with courage for Your glory. Let Your Spirit lead and sustain each day. Amen.

Keep seeking the Lord in His Word and in prayer, and ask Him daily for opportunities to live and speak for Him with gentle courage. He is faithful to give strength to those who ask.

Your prayer for boldness and for timidity to leave is a good and biblical prayer, and God wants to answer it.

True boldness does not come from trying harder to feel confident in yourself. It comes from knowing what you have in Jesus Christ. Through faith in Him you have boldness and access to God with confidence. You do not need to go through anyone else, and you do not need to hold back as if you are unworthy to approach Him. Because of the blood of Jesus and because He is the one mediator between God and man, you can come boldly to the throne of grace at any time. That is your standing. You have been accepted, you have access, and you can come with confidence.

Scripture also shows that confidence grows as you learn the fear of the Lord. That phrase does not mean being afraid that God will harm you. It means having a reverence for Him that makes you hate evil and turn away from it. It is the beginning of wisdom and the sum of wisdom. When you walk in that reverence, the Lord Himself becomes your confidence. The Proverbs say not to be afraid of sudden terror when it comes upon the wicked, for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being taken. The name of the Lord is a strong tower and those who run to Him are safe.

Timidity and fear are driven out another way as well, by knowing how deeply God loves you. There is no fear in love, perfect love casts out fear, because fear brings torment. When you are unsure of His love, fear takes hold. When you know that you are in Christ, cleansed from sin by what He did, and that He dwells in you and you in Him, you can have boldness not only for the day of judgment but for every day now. You do not need to dread what people can do or what tomorrow may bring, because your life is in His hands and He is watching over you.

Fear and faith cannot rule your heart at the same time. When fear is allowed to take over, faith departs, and when faith is strong, fear leaves. Remembering the Lord is the cure for fear. That is why prayer is so important. Prayer often begins with petitions, but as you keep praying it moves to confidence and then to praise, even before you have seen the answer. Like David, you can put the matter in God's hands in prayer and come to a place of saying, I will trust in God, I will not fear what others can do, He will take care of it.

So keep bringing this request to God with confidence. Scripture gives this assurance, that if you ask anything according to His will He hears you, and if He hears you, you have the petitions you have asked of Him. Ask Him to make His love more real to you, to teach you to reverence Him above all else, and to help you remember Him whenever timidity rises. He is able to give you that settled confidence.

I pray that God will fill you with His love and with a clear sense of your access to Him through Christ, that timidity will be cast out, and that you will walk in quiet boldness and confidence, trusting Him to keep you steady in every situation.
