Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer is a beautiful expression of confidence in what Jesus has accomplished, and we join you in thanking God for it. Through the blood of Jesus we do have boldness to enter the holiest place, behind the veil, into the very fellowship of the Father and the Son. Our great High Priest is sympathetic to our weakness, yet without sin, and because He suffered and was pierced, died publicly, was buried, rose again and ascended, He has poured out His inheritance upon us through the promised Holy Spirit.
We thank God with you that by the sprinkling of that blood our consciences are cleansed from dead works so that we may serve the living God. This is not something we earn. As you pictured so well, we receive mercy and find grace for help in time of need freely, as a child in the womb receives life through the cord without labor, and as branches naturally receive sap from the vine and then bear fruit without striving. That abiding life in Christ is the source of all fruitfulness.
What you have described about love is the heart of the gospel. We love Him because He first loved us. God is the initiator. He sent His Son to bear our sins, and when we come to know and believe that love, our hearts respond. That response is itself evidence of His Spirit within us, for this kind of self giving love cannot be produced apart from Him. The test of the Spirit is both the confession that Jesus Christ is the Son of God come in the flesh and the presence of His love being perfected in us. He who dwells in love dwells in God and God in him, and that love is then made complete as we learn to walk in love toward one another, to forgive as we have been forgiven, and to serve not from duty but because the love of Christ compels us.
We pray with you for that nearness to God that comes as we draw near to Him, for renewal of first love, for grace to tend the vineyard and garden God has entrusted to you, and for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to know Him better and to understand His Word. May He give you clarity and order, for He is not a God of confusion, and simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ. We ask Him to grant you happy grace for daily chores, wisdom for pressing needs, and deep fellowship with Him and with family, friends, and those who do not yet know Him.
We also join you in proclaiming repentance and forgiveness in Jesus name, that faith and assurance would grow, and that the joy of forgiveness would be restored and overflow to others. And we agree with you for protection. When we are solicited to evil, that temptation does not come from God, for He cannot be tempted by evil and He tempts no one, and every good and perfect gift comes down from above from the Father. May the Lord keep you from stumbling blocks, from wrongdoing, fear and lies, from evil people and deception, and deliver you from the evil one. May He command His angels to guard you and keep you in all your ways.
We rest with you in Jesus Christ, the one Mediator between God and man, our Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek, through whom we have this unshakable access. In His name we pray, amen.
