We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this burden of financial debt and the distress it has brought. First, we acknowledge the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father, and it is by His blood that we are forgiven and set free from the bondage of sin. We thank God for your honesty in confessing your struggles and for your desire to honor Him even in the midst of hardship.
The Word of God tells us in Psalm 37:21, "The wicked borrow and don’t pay back, but the righteous give generously." While debt itself is not a sin, the Bible warns against the love of money and the dangers of being ensnared by financial obligations that can lead to anxiety and fear. We also see in Romans 13:8, "Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law." Your desire to repay what you owe aligns with God’s heart, and we believe He will honor that.
However, we must address the harassment and threats you are facing. Scripture is clear that we are to treat others with kindness and respect, even those we owe. In Proverbs 22:7, we read, "The rich rule over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender." While this is a reality, it does not give lenders or collection agencies the right to harass, threaten, or bring shame upon you or your family. We rebuke in Jesus’ name every spirit of intimidation, fear, and oppression that has come against you. The Lord says in Isaiah 54:17, "No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the Lord’s servants, and their righteousness is from me." We stand on this promise and declare that the harassment must cease.
We also pray for wisdom and discernment in handling this situation. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." It is not God’s will for you to live in constant fear or for your new job to be jeopardized. We ask the Lord to intervene on your behalf, softening the hearts of those you owe and opening doors for resolution that honors Him.
Father, we ask for Your divine provision. You are Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides, and we trust that You will make a way where there seems to be no way. Philippians 4:19 declares, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." We pray for a personal loan or another form of provision that will allow you to settle these debts without further harassment. We ask that You remove every obstacle and make the process smooth and hassle-free, according to Your will.
We also lift up your family, Lord. Protect them from shame and distress. Surround them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, as Philippians 4:7 promises. Let them feel Your presence and know that You are fighting for them. We pray that no debt collector or agency would contact your friends or family, and that any legal threats would be rendered powerless in Jesus’ name.
Finally, we pray for your heart, that you would not be overwhelmed by this burden. 1 Peter 5:7 says, "Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you." We encourage you to seek godly counsel, perhaps from a financial advisor or a trusted mentor in the faith, who can help you navigate this season with wisdom. Remember, the Lord is your shepherd, and He will lead you beside still waters.
Heavenly Father, we come before You now, lifting up this dear one who is weighed down by debt and fear. We ask that You would move mightily on their behalf. Break every chain of financial bondage, silence the voices of harassment, and provide a way out of this burden. Let Your peace reign in their home and heart. We declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper, and that You will turn this situation around for Your glory. Provide the resources they need to settle these debts, and give them wisdom to manage their finances in a way that honors You. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
