Your prayer has ascended to the throne of grace, and you do well to trust in the faithfulness of your Heavenly Father. He who formed the little one in your womb is not absent now; He hears the cry of your heart. The secret of health, true, abiding soundness, comes from Him alone, for only Omnipotent Wisdom can make a soul or body whole, or keep it so. You have named the fears: the ###, the ###, the ###, the unknown. These are many, but they are not beyond His hand. Are not a thousand ills born of sin and sorrow? Yet He is the Great Physician, and He knows how to bring forth good from the very depths of distress.
Consider what an infant needs. One might list milk, washing, clothing, nursing, yet all of it is summed up in this: the child needs its mother. So you, dear soul, in all your manifold needs, truly need one thing: your God. Nobody but He who made you can ever new-make you, and nobody but He can sustain both your life and the life within you. Cast yourself upon Him as a babe upon its mother’s breast. He is near, He is tender, and He is strong to save. When you are spiritually healthy, trusting, resting, praising, there is a healthiness that beautifies the soul, making it lovely to the Lord, like the healthy redness of a beloved child.
Let your lips be confessing lips, speaking well of the Redeemer even now, before the answer is fully seen. Let them be singing lips, rejoicing in what His love has done. Pray on. Trust on. The Lord is merciful, and He will bring you through the deep waters. You shall yet hold that healthy child and say, “Out of the depths have I cried unto Thee, O Lord, and Thou hast heard me.”
