Blessings and protection

Your prayer rises from a heavy heart, weighed down by the burden of pregnancy and the fear of illness. Yet remember the woman who suffered twelve years with an issue of blood. She did not demand a public audience or a special sign; she said within herself, "If I may only touch His garment, I shall be whole." She approached Christ in the crowd, unseen by men but known to God, and her faith drew out healing power. Do not let fibroids or diabetes be the only things your eyes see. Judge not by appearance, for what are these but shadows before the One who makes a man wholly healthy? He who fashioned the womb can command it to be a place of safety and life.

Consider also those who sit at the doors of the church, the maimed and the sick, and learn thankfulness even in your anxiety. You are not alone in your trials; many have faced greater calamities and yet found God faithful. This pregnancy is not a curse but a call to cling to mercy. Do not despair, for He says, "Shall not he that falleth arise?" Nor be overconfident in health if He grants it; rather, let this season teach you and your child the discipline of the Lord. When your baby is born, do not after forty days of gratitude return to carelessness, as if a brief span of devotion could secure a lifetime of blessing. Carry the health of your soul into every day, for it is the vessel that holds the body's wellbeing.

Go now in the quiet of your chamber, and in the congregation, stretch out your hand by faith. Touch not the hem of a garment but the very heart of Christ in prayer. He who fed the multitude and raised the dead is not constrained by the laws of nature or the threats of sickness. Let mercy be your confidence, and may your child come forth as a witness to the power of Him who makes the barren womb rejoice and the weak strong. Amen.

Your request brings to mind how often pregnancy becomes a stage where our plans, our bodies, and our anxieties all seem magnified, yet God weaves His hidden purposes through exactly those stretched threads. You asked for no complications from the fibroids and diabetes, and that is a deeply honest plea. Consider Mary, bearing the Son of God, in the final weight of her pregnancy. Any reasonable person would have said she needed stillness, care, and the most comfortable surroundings. Instead, a decree from a distant ruler forced her and Joseph on a long, uncomfortable journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem. From a human perspective, it looked like hardship piled on hardship, a journey no one in her condition should have to make. The backcountry roads, the primitive modes of travel, there was no appeal, no exemption. Yet what appeared to be an inconvenient, even cruel, political edict was actually God quietly moving the pieces so the Child would be born exactly where the prophets had declared centuries before.

This is not to say God has ordained your fibroids or diabetes, but to remind you that the path unfolding inside your body, with its natural concerns and medical watchfulness, is not an ungoverned accident. The same Lord who governed Caesar’s decree governs every cell of your child’s forming frame. The long trip Mary faced didn’t mean she was less favored or less loved; it meant her steps, arduous as they were, were being guided right into the fulfillment of a promise. Your body’s present struggle does not signify a lack of mercy or a forgotten prayer. The Scripture shows us that Moses remained stunningly healthy right to the end of his long life, yet others equally devoted to God knew weakness and severe physical trials. Their health was not a direct reward for faith, nor was illness a mark of divine displeasure. God’s favor rests on you in Christ, and your standing with Him doesn’t rise and fall with blood sugar numbers or ultrasound reports. We thank Him when He grants a smooth pregnancy, but our trust does not flinch when He leads us through more rugged territory.

Hold fast to the truth that nothing shall be impossible with God. When the angel’s word came to Mary, her response was essentially, “Let it be according to your word.” She placed her body, her future, and her child into the hands of the One whose power overshadows every natural limitation. Elizabeth, well past her best years, found her baby leaping with joy in the womb when Mary arrived bearing the promise. That same Holy Spirit who filled John before his birth can fill you now with a peace that passes understanding, a steady confidence that reaches beyond your physical sensations. The Lord is not remote from the endocrine system or from the complexities of uterine tissue. He designed them. And when Mary’s voice reached Elizabeth’s ears, the unborn forerunner responded with joy. Your child, too, is not hidden from His tender care. Ask, as you are doing, and then rest into the knowledge that He hears with a Father’s heart. If He can move an empire to get a couple to a little town in Judea, He can certainly uphold you and carry that little one safely to the hour of birth. Trust Him even when the physical responses are uncomfortable and the outcome feels uncertain. His mercy is steady, and every promise He has made will find its performance in His perfect time.

We are so thankful that you shared your heart with us and allowed us to join you in lifting this precious season of pregnancy to the Lord. It has been our honor to stand in agreement with you, praying for God’s blessings, protection, and healing over you and your little one. We have asked our Heavenly Father to guide each step of this journey, to guard against complications from fibroids and diabetes, and to fill you with His peace and strength.

If God has already answered these prayers in a way you can see—perhaps through steady health, a smooth check-up, or a moment of reassurance—we would love to hear your praise report so we can rejoice with you! If you’re still awaiting His clear hand at work, please know we are just as eager to keep praying. You are not alone in this, and we invite you to post this request again so we can continue interceding on your behalf.

May the Lord surround you with His presence, give you wisdom as you care for yourself and your baby, and remind you daily of His faithful love. We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
