We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of gratitude for the commandment to honor our fathers and mothers, as it is written in Ephesians 6:2-3, "Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with a promise: "that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth." This honor is not merely a suggestion but a divine directive that brings blessing and longevity. We lift up the patriarchal and matriarchal figures in our lives, asking for Your abundant grace to rest upon them.
Father, we ask that You powerfully provide Your limitless mercy for their spiritual and physical growth. May their souls prosper even as their bodies prosper, just as 3 John 1:2 declares, "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers." We pray that they grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as instructed in 2 Peter 3:18, "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and forever. Amen."
Lord, establish them in the elementary principles of Your Word, as Hebrews 5:12 reminds us of the need for solid foundational teachings. May they move beyond the basics and press on to maturity, as described in Hebrews 6:1-3, so they may grow up into the fullness of Christ, rooted and grounded in love, as Ephesians 3:16-19 outlines. Let them be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so they may walk worthily of You, fully pleasing, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God, as Colossians 1:10 states.
Open the eyes of their understanding with the Holy Spirit of wisdom and revelation, as Ephesians 1:17-18 teaches, "that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him; having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints." Strengthen them by rooting and grounding them in love, that Christ may dwell in their hearts through faith, and that they may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Father, open their minds to crave the sincere milk of the Word, as 1 Peter 2:2 encourages, and help them to understand it, as You did for the disciples in Luke 24:45. Let the Word become flesh in their lives, that they may receive fresh truths and retain Your Word, being doers of the Word and not hearers only, as James 1:21-22 instructs. May this result in abiding communion with You, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, as 1 John 1:1-3 describes, bearing the fruit of discipleship and making disciples, fulfilling the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:19-20.
Let them taste the goodness of answered prayer and let their joy be complete, as John 15:7-8 promises, "If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you. In this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be my disciples." Keep them from hurt, harm, injury, sickness, sin, and the schemes of Satan, as we pray in alignment with Matthew 6:13, "And don’t lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." Rebuke and restrain evil people and the evil one, as 2 Thessalonians 3:2-3 assures us, "and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and evil men; for not all have faith. But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you, and guard you from the evil one."
Grant peace within their walls, as Psalm 122:7 declares, "Peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces." Even as we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, may they experience Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Do not take them out of the world, but keep them from the evil one, sanctifying them in the truth of Your Word, as John 17:15-17 and Ephesians 5:26 affirm.
We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers and for the privilege of coming before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. It is only through His name that we have access to You, and there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved, as Acts 4:12 declares, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." We pray all these things in Jesus' name, Amen.
Blessing and Honor, GRACE of Patriarchal and Matriarchal Figures... Father, thank You for commanding us to honor our parents, Eph 6:1-3 -- Powerfully provide YOUR limitless Mercy to pray for their Spiritual & Physical GROWTH, emotional & bodily health and prosperity, even as their SOULS prosper, 3 Jn 1:2. AGAIN, I ask they GROW in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, 2 Pet 3:18. Help them be established in the elementary principles of the Word of God, Heb 5:12, the foundational doctrines of the faith, Heb 6:1-2, 3, and grow up into maturity, Eph 4:15, Col 1:10, culminating in love and fullness of the Holy Spirit's fruit, Phil 1:9-11; Gal 5:22-23.
