We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of gratitude for the commandment to honor our fathers and mothers, that it may be well with us and that we may live long on the earth. Your Word in Ephesians 6:2-3 is clear, and we stand upon it as we lift up our patriarchal and matriarchal figures before You. Father, we ask that You would indeed pour out Your limitless mercy upon them, nurturing their spiritual and physical growth, their emotional and bodily health, and their prosperity in every way, even as their souls prosper, just as 3 John 1:2 declares.
We join in the cry of the heart that seeks their growth in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as 2 Peter 3:18 instructs. Lord, establish them in the elementary principles of Your Word, as Hebrews 5:12 and 6:1-3 remind us, that they may move beyond the foundational doctrines and grow into maturity. May they be rooted and grounded in love, that Christ may dwell in their hearts by faith, and that they may comprehend the breadth, length, height, and depth of Your love, which surpasses all knowledge, that they may be filled with all the fullness of God, as Ephesians 3:16-19 so beautifully expresses.
Open the eyes of their understanding, Lord, with the Holy Spirit of wisdom and revelation, that they may know You better, as Ephesians 1:17-18 describes. Strengthen them to crave the sincere milk of Your Word, as 1 Peter 2:2 encourages, and grant them understanding, as You did for the disciples in Luke 24:45. Let Your Word become flesh in their lives, that they may not only hear but do what it says, as James 1:21-22 exhorts. May this result in abiding communion with You, bearing the fruit of discipleship, and making disciples, fulfilling the Great Commission of Matthew 28:19-20.
We pray that they would taste the goodness of answered prayer and have their joy made complete, as John 15:7-8 promises. Keep them from hurt, harm, injury, sickness, sin, and the evil one, as Matthew 6:13 teaches. Rebuke and restrain evil people and the evil one, as 2 Thessalonians 3:2-3 instructs, especially in the lives of those unruly neighbors they seek to love, as Luke 6:27 commands. Grant peace within their walls, as Psalm 122:7 declares, even as we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, as Psalm 122:6 urges.
Father, we ask that You would not take them out of the world but keep them from the evil one, sanctifying them in the truth of Your Word, as John 17:15 and 17 reveal. Cleanse them by the washing of water with the Word, as Ephesians 5:26 describes. We thank You for the privilege of coming before You in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we can be saved. It is through Jesus Christ that we have access to You, and it is in His name that we pray, for He is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him, as John 14:6 proclaims.
We rebuke every spirit of division, strife, and disunity that may seek to disrupt the harmony within families and communities. We declare that love, peace, and unity will prevail, as Psalm 133:1 celebrates. We stand against every scheme of the enemy that seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, for Jesus came that they may have life, and have it abundantly, as John 10:10 assures.
May our patriarchal and matriarchal figures be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that they may walk in a manner worthy of You, fully pleasing to You, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God, as Colossians 1:9-10 instructs. Strengthen them with all power, according to Your glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to You, who has qualified them to share in the inheritance of the saints in light, as Colossians 1:11-12 declares.
We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, to whom be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Blessing and Honor, GRACE of Patriarchal and Matriarchal Figures... Father, thank You for commanding us to honor our parents, Eph 6:1-3 -- Powerfully provide YOUR limitless Mercy to pray for their Spiritual & Physical GROWTH, emotional & bodily health and prosperity, even as their SOULS prosper, 3 Jn 1:2. AGAIN, I ask they GROW in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, 2 Pet 3:18. Help them be established in the elementary principles of the Word of God, Heb 5:12, the foundational doctrines of the faith, Heb 6:1-2, 3, and grow up into maturity, Eph 4:15, Col 1:10, culminating in love and fullness of the Holy Spirit's fruit, Phil 1:9-11; Gal 5:22-23.
