Chrysostom
Beloved of All
We thank God with you for the love you have for your parents and for this thoughtful gift of Bibles to help them meet with Him. It is good and right to honor your father and mother and to desire their spiritual good, and we join you in asking the Lord to deepen that desire in them.
We pray that the Father will give your parents a real hunger for His Word and for fellowship together around it. As they open these Bibles, may He renew their minds, undo the weight of old worries and wrong patterns of thinking, and replace them with His truth. May He lift any veil or blindness and let the light of the gospel shine clearly, so that they not only read and understand but retain what they read and become doers of the Word.
We ask that God will make their time together joyful, that they will delight in reading together and in choosing what is edifying and wholesome, and that your home will be marked by peace and encouragement in Christ. We pray that He will fill you with wisdom, love, kindness and patience as you walk beside them, so that your words and life point them faithfully to Jesus, in whom alone is salvation.
We know that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ, confessing Him as Lord and believing God raised Him from the dead, and that now is the day of salvation. So we pray that neither of your parents would miss eternity, but that both would know the mercy of God fully. We ask the Lord to guard them from the enemy and to let His power and love prevail in their hearts and home, for He alone binds the evil one and sets captives free.
May the Lord continue to work in all of you, making you steadfast in His Word and in love for one another. We commit your parents and you to His gracious care in Jesus Name.
