Beloved of All
Your prayer for God to bless and watch over your spirit, soul and body is beautiful because God cares for the whole person. Scripture shows that His redemption touches every part of us. When Matthew describes the evening at Peter's house where crowds were brought to Jesus, he says that Jesus healed many who were sick and drove out evil spirits, and he connects this directly to what Isaiah prophesied, that the Messiah would take our infirmities and carry our sicknesses. That tells us the suffering of Christ was not only for the forgiveness of sin in our spirit, but also for the healing of our bodies. When Jesus broke the bread and said this is my body broken for you, He was pointing to that complete work. The Gospels also tell us that Jesus went through the cities and villages preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every kind of sickness and disease among the people.
There is also a deep connection between the health of your soul and the health of your body. The apostle John prayed for his friend Gaius with these words, I pray that you may prosper and be in good health, even as your soul prospers. That was a loving prayer, not a formula to claim, but it shows how God sees us as whole. When the soul is nourished in Christ, it often brings strength to the mind and body as well, and when the heart is burdened, the body feels it too.
We do believe God still heals. Sometimes He heals instantly, sometimes healing comes gradually through the natural processes He Himself placed in our bodies, and all true healing is from Him. There is much we do not fully understand about why some are healed quickly and others continue to wait, but we can trust His wisdom and love and keep bringing our bodies to Him in prayer, asking for His mercy and restoration according to His will.
Your request for protection from all evil is also close to God's heart. To fear the Lord is to hate evil, and Scripture says to depart from evil and to do good. It is not enough only to avoid what is wrong, we are also called to actively pursue what is good and to follow what is good. Evil often seeks to be tolerated, and even a little can spread like leaven through dough, so we are called to turn away from it completely. This includes guarding our tongue from speaking evil about others, guarding our eyes from looking toward evil things, and not envying or seeking the company of those who practice evil. We are not to repay evil for evil, but to commit our cause to God who judges justly.
In Christ you have true protection, because Jesus has authority over every power of sickness and over every evil spirit. The Gospels show that when an evil influence is driven out but nothing good fills that space, the condition can become worse. The answer is to be filled with Christ Himself, with His Word and His Spirit, so that your heart is not empty but occupied by Him.
May the Lord bless you and keep you, strengthen your spirit, renew your soul, and bring healing to your body as He wills. May He guard you from the power of evil, fill you with what is good, and bring health and peace to your whole being as you walk close to Jesus and trust Him day by day.
