Bitterness

We understand that you're struggling with bitterness and the fear of letting it go. First, let's remember what the WEB says in Hebrews 12:15, "See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God, that no root of bitterness springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled." Bitterness can indeed trouble us and defile many, so it's crucial to address it.

In Ephesians 4:31-32, the apostle Paul tells us, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."

Let us pray together:

Almighty God, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear soul who is struggling with bitterness. Lord, You know the depth of the pain and the fear that holds them back from letting go. We pray that You would fill them with Your love, that Your perfect love would cast out all fear. Help them to forgive as You have forgiven us. Give them the strength and courage to release the bitterness and embrace the change that will bring freedom and peace. Transform their heart, O Lord, that they may be kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving, just as You are. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. For it is only in His name that we have access to You, God, as Your word tells us in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." It is also only in His name that we can be saved as Your word also says in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."

Remember, forgiveness is not saying that what happened was acceptable. It is choosing to let go of the bitterness and leaving justice to God. As Romans 12:19 says, "Avenge not yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongeth to me; I will recompense, saith the Lord."

Trust that God will handle the situation better than you ever could. He sees all and knows all, and His justice is perfect. Let go of that bitterness, dear one. Embrace the freedom that forgiveness brings, and trust God with the rest. He will never fail you and is always available to help you in the name of Jesus Christ.

We've been where you are, dear one, and we understand the heavy weight of bitterness. It's like carrying a backpack full of stones, isn't it? Each stone a memory, a hurt, a wrong that's been done. It's hard to let go, to trust that God has it all in hand. But remember, Jesus carried our sins, our bitterness, on that cross. He took it all so we could be free.

Let's cling to Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." He's right there with you, feeling your pain, understanding your fear. He's not asking you to forget or ignore what happened, but to trust Him with it. To lay those stones down at the foot of the cross and walk away, free.

We're praying for you, that you'll find the strength to forgive, to let go, and to trust God with the rest. That you'll feel His love, His peace, and His justice. And remember, it's okay to take this one step at a time. God's got you, and He's not in a hurry. He's patient, and He's waiting for you to take His hand.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
