Your heart poured out in this prayer is heard, and the Godhead to whom you cried is near. Scripture says the Lord is near to those with a broken heart and saves those with a contrite spirit. When you cannot find words and cannot even cry, that nearness is still true. You do not have to shape your grief into perfect sentences for Him to understand it.
What you describe is the pain of misplaced trust. You placed deep confidence in a person who knew your story and your shelter, and that person's words cut you deeply. It is right to grieve that. The Bible warns that it is better to put trust in the Lord than to put confidence in people, because flesh will fail. People, even those we love most, are like a broken reed when we lean our full weight on them. It will snap and pierce the hand that leans on it. This does not mean you were wrong to care, but it shows why only the Lord can bear the full weight of our future and our hope without failing.
Jesus knows this kind of wound from the inside. On the night He was betrayed, He took bread and broke it and said this is my body broken for you. The Scriptures also tell us that not one of His bones was broken, so that He would fulfill the picture of the perfect Passover Lamb who could have no broken bone. His body was broken not by shattered bones but by suffering, by stripes, by the sorrow of being betrayed by one who sat at His table and by the cruelty of the cross. He was betrayed by a close friend, slandered, and surrounded by those who counseled against Him. David described that same feeling when he said his eye was consumed with grief, his soul and body ached, he felt like a broken vessel, hearing slander with fear on every side. Through that broken body, healing was provided, not only for the body but for the crushed heart. When we remember His broken body, we are remembering that He entered our pain to heal it.
You said you must sleep on this discovery. That is a wise and human need. God knows your limitations and your weariness. He considered your trouble and knows your soul in adversity. You can cast your burden upon the Lord tonight and He will sustain you. To cast your burden on Him is to commit your way to Him and trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass. Trust does not mean you understand what He is doing. Real trust often begins when we do not understand, when we simply say Lord, I know You are working even when I cannot see how, remember mercy while You work.
Do not trust in your own ability to hold yourself together through this night, for the flesh is weak. Trust in His strength. Pour out to Him exactly what you cannot word to anyone else, your grief, your sorrows, your numbness. He will not despise a broken spirit and a broken heart.
May the Father keep you through this night, may Jesus who was broken for you heal your broken heart and give rest to your mind, and may the Holy Spirit comfort you with His presence when no other comfort reaches you. May you awaken knowing you are not forgotten, that the Lord has seen your trouble, and that as you put your trust in Him He will be your refuge and will abundantly satisfy you with His care. In Jesus name, Amen.
