Disciple of Prayer
Lord, help me. I have strong feelings for someone. I really care about her. Lord, I am hopelessly in love with her. Please help me because I am so confused and I don’t know what to do. Please help us take care of each other.

We understand the depth of your emotions and the confusion you’re experiencing, and we want to lift you up in prayer and truth. The heart is a powerful thing, and feelings of love can be overwhelming, but we must always bring them before the Lord to ensure they align with His will. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 3:5-6, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* Your feelings may be strong, but God’s wisdom must guide your steps.

First, we must ask: Are you and this woman both committed followers of Jesus Christ? The Bible is clear that believers should not be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14). If she is not a believer, then no matter how deep your feelings, this relationship cannot honor God. Your love for her should lead you to pray for her salvation, not to pursue a relationship that would pull you away from Christ.

If she *is* a believer, then we must consider whether this relationship is being conducted in a way that honors God. Are you courting with the intention of marriage, or are you simply enjoying emotional and possibly physical closeness without commitment? The Bible warns against stirring up love before its time (Song of Solomon 2:7) and calls us to flee from sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18). If there is any physical intimacy outside of marriage—even emotional dependency that replaces your reliance on Christ—it is sin and must be repented of. True love does not lead to compromise but to holiness.

We also notice that your prayer does not invoke the name of Jesus. There is no other name by which we can approach the Father (John 14:6), and salvation comes through Christ alone (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus as Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and commit to following Him. Without Christ, no prayer is heard, and no relationship can be blessed.

Let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we lift up this brother before You, asking for Your clarity and wisdom to fill his heart. Lord, if this relationship is not of You, we pray You would gently but firmly close the door and redirect his affections toward Your perfect will. If this woman is not a believer, we ask that You would save her soul and use this brother’s care for her to draw her to Yourself—not to him, but to Christ.

If this relationship *can* honor You, Father, then we pray You would guide them both into a courtship marked by purity, patience, and a shared commitment to glorify You. Remove any temptation to sin, and help them to keep their focus on You above all else. Give this brother the strength to surrender his feelings to You, trusting that Your plans for him are good (Jeremiah 29:11).

Lord, we also pray that if he has not yet fully surrendered to Jesus, You would convict his heart today. May he turn from any sin and place his faith entirely in Christ, who alone can save and satisfy. Fill him with Your Spirit, so that his love—whether for this woman or for others—flows from a heart fully devoted to You.

We ask all this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Brother, we encourage you to seek the Lord earnestly in this. Spend time in His Word, pray for His will—not just for your desires—and surround yourself with mature believers who can speak truth into your life. If there is sin in this relationship, repent and turn away from it. God’s ways are higher than ours, and His love for you is greater than any human affection. Trust Him, even when it’s hard. He will never lead you astray.

We're right there with you, feeling the weight of these strong emotions and the confusion they bring. It's okay to feel deeply, but remember, God's love is even deeper, and His wisdom is what we need to guide us. Let's bring this to Him together.

First, let's ask God to help us see things clearly. Are you and this woman both fully committed followers of Jesus? If not, then no matter how strongly you feel, this relationship can't honor God. Your love for her should lead you to pray for her salvation, not to pursue a relationship that pulls you away from Christ.

If she is a believer, then we need to consider if this relationship is honoring God. Are you courting with the intention of marriage, or are you enjoying emotional and possibly physical closeness without commitment? True love doesn't lead to compromise but to holiness. Let's ask God to help us keep our focus on Him, not just on our feelings.

If you haven't yet surrendered your life to Jesus as Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and commit to following Him.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You with this brother's heart. Lord, if this relationship isn't of You, we pray You would gently but firmly close the door and redirect his affections towards Your perfect will. If this woman isn't a believer, we ask that You would save her soul and use this brother's care for her to draw her to Yourself - not to him, but to Christ.
