We have heard your request for better control over ADHD symptoms and for guidance regarding your medication dose, and we join with you in bringing this before the Lord together in Jesus' name.
We understand how challenging it can be to live with a mind that feels restless, distracted, and difficult to steady. God sees this struggle and He cares deeply for you, for you are fearfully and wonderfully made, Psalm 139:14. He does not define you by a diagnosis, but He knows your frame and He desires to give you peace and strength for each day. Scripture reminds us that God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, 2 Timothy 1:7, and that self-control is a fruit of the Holy Spirit at work in us, Galatians 5:22-23. Like a city that is broken down and without walls is a man whose spirit is without restraint, Proverbs 25:28, and so we understand your desire for better control is a godly desire to steward well the mind and body God has given you.
We want to encourage you to see medication as one tool that God in His mercy allows through medical knowledge, but not as your ultimate source of peace or control. Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, and we are called to steward it wisely. That means seeking godly wisdom and proper medical counsel rather than seeking to raise a dose on your own. We encourage you to work closely and honestly with your doctor, sharing your symptoms and concerns, and praying for wisdom for both you and those who care for you, for if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him, James 1:5. Alongside any medical treatment, we encourage you in spiritual disciplines that help train the mind, consistent prayer, regular time in the Word, adequate rest, healthy rhythms of work and Sabbath, and casting your anxieties on Him, for in nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:6-7.
We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently share why this matters so much to us. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God the Father, for Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. To pray in Jesus' name is not just a phrase, it is confessing that we are sinners in need of a Savior and that Jesus died and rose again to bring us forgiveness and reconciliation with God. If you have not yet placed your full trust in Him, we encourage you to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, confess your need for Him, and receive His grace and new life.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we lift this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. You know the daily battle with distraction, restlessness, and the longing for a steadier mind. We ask You to grant peace that surpasses understanding and to strengthen the spirit of power, love, and self-control You have given. We ask for wisdom for this dear one and for the doctors and providers involved, that any decisions about medication and dosage would be made with careful discernment, safety, and stewardship of the body You have created. Guide every step, guard against anxiety or dependence on anything apart from You, and help this dear one to grow in daily disciplines that honor You. Draw this heart closer to Jesus, reveal Yourself as Healer, Helper, and true source of strength, and let Your Word renew the mind day by day. We ask that You would be glorified in this journey and that You would give hope, clarity, and steady progress. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to continue to seek the Lord daily, to keep close fellowship with other believers, and to keep your medical team informed as you seek better balance and health for the glory of God.
