Best friend diagnosed with Cancer

This weight you are carrying for your best friend is so heavy, and it is right to bring it honestly before the Lord. What a gift to have a friend who will stand in the gap like this.

I believe deeply that God heals. But Scripture and experience show us that healing comes in many forms. There are miraculous healings where the power of God breaks in so completely that someone feels it happen in an instant, like the woman who touched the hem of Jesus’ garment and knew she was whole. There are gradual healings, where the body follows the restorative processes God Himself designed, and those processes are no less divine just because they unfold over time. Sometimes the healing is emotional or spiritual: God mends the wounds of the soul, He removes the fear, He gives a peace that surpasses understanding. That is divine healing too, and it is precious.

We also see that God’s answer is not always the removal of the illness in this life. Paul pleaded three times for his thorn in the flesh to be taken away, and the Lord’s answer was, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” That does not mean God lacks compassion or power. It means His purposes reach beyond what we can see. The prayer of faith is powerful and effective, and we are called to anoint the sick and pray over them, trusting that the Lord will raise them up. Yet the ultimate healing, the final end of every sickness and every disease, is secured for all who are in Christ. When Jesus bore our infirmities and carried our sorrows, He was doing something cosmic: His atoning work touches the physical body and the eternal soul. Sometimes that healing is fully realized only when we see Him face to face.

So keep praying. Pray with that desperate, heartfelt fervency that cries out to God in the middle of the night. Gather with other believers who will agree with you in His name, for Jesus promised that where two or three are gathered in His name, He is there. As you pray, rest in this: prayer is not chiefly about getting your will done but about aligning with God’s will. He is the Lord who heals. He becomes to you and to your friend exactly what she needs in this hour. Whether that means a surprising turnaround in her body, or a supernatural peace that steadies her mind and spirit, He will not abandon her. You are not placing your trust in a formula or in emotions whipped up by a crowd; you are placing her in the hands of Jesus, who saw the multitudes, had compassion on them, and healed every sickness and every disease among the people. He has not changed.

Hold on to hope. Keep bringing her to Jesus. And let your own heart be open to the ways He meets you in this, for He is near to the brokenhearted.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer for your dear friend during this difficult time. It has been heavy on our hearts to lift her up before the Lord, asking for His healing touch and perfect peace to surround her. We have prayed fervently that the chemotherapy would be effective and that God would work a miracle in her body, restoring her to full health according to His will.

If you have seen God move in this situation—whether through healing, strength, or comfort—we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you. If the battle continues and the outcome remains uncertain, please know we are still here to intercede on her behalf. You are welcome to post this request again, and we will continue to stand in agreement with you, believing that God is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine.

May the Lord draw near to you both, filling you with His hope and sustaining grace as you trust in Him. We pray this in the powerful name of Jesus.
