BELIEVING FOR MY DREAM JOB

Your heart burns for this dream, and you say it is never too late. That is true: God's calling resounds across all ages, and the Scripture foresaw that He would justify the Gentiles by faith, preaching the gospel beforehand to Abraham long before the Law. So time is no barrier to His purposes. But I urge you to examine closely what you call a dream. The present life is a sleep, and all its honors are no different from visions of the night. A man becomes consul and for a day shouts echo his name, yet when night falls, he has nothing more than the one who dreamed the same honor while asleep. If this dream job is pursued for self-fulfillment, for the fleeting pleasure of recognition or the comfort it might bring, then you are making provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts, and such striving fans a fever, not a cure.

Do not hear me as one who despises labor or the desire to contribute. The apostle bids us work with our hands and to supply our needs with quiet industry. But the heart's desire that God blesses is not the craving for a specific title or position; it is the longing to be counted worthy of His calling, to fulfill every desire of goodness and every work of faith with power. When you set your mind always on God, remembering Him in every thought, all things become endurable, and no earthly ambition can master you. The dream that endures is to be well-pleasing to Him, to use whatever station He grants for the health of your soul and the building up of Christ's body.

Now your children are grown, and you have more time. This is a season of divine opportunity. But I bid you, do not run with a blazing torch after a particular role as though it alone could satisfy. Pour out that energy in prayer and service where you are. If God opens the door to the work you imagine, enter it with thanksgiving, doing all for His glory and not for the vanity of human praise. If He withholds it, do not despair; He may be sparing you from a weight that would kindle pride or neglect of things eternal. It is never too late to abandon the perishable for the imperishable, to store up treasure in heaven rather than chase shadows on earth.

Your desire to make a real contribution is not a small thing. The book of Job gives the picture of a man reduced to nearly nothing, and when the outward supports were taken away, what surfaced were the deepest questions of life. One of those questions is whether a person's life truly counts, whether there is a purpose for being here that goes beyond just getting by. You have spent years doing what was needed for your children. Now that they are young adults, it is not surprising that this deeper longing for meaningful work is rising in you.

But the lesson of Job is not simply that God will hand us the dream exactly as we picture it. Job had to learn again that his life was in God's hands. Prayer is not mainly a tool for getting what we want; it is where we learn to want what God wants. So I would encourage you to keep asking, keep trusting, and also keep surrendering. Tell the Lord plainly what you desire, and then say, "Father, your will be done." That is the safest prayer you can pray. When the outcome is placed in his hands, you can have rest instead of anxiety.

Do not believe the lie that usefulness ends at a certain age. Scripture uses the picture of a full sheaf brought in at harvest time, which means there is a proper season for what God still wants to do through you. Your age is not a barrier to him. But the door he opens may not look exactly like your dream. It may be the very place where your reliance on him becomes more real and where his strength is seen more clearly. If he opens it, step through with gratitude. If he delays or closes it, that is not proof he has forgotten you. It may be his way of teaching you to rest in him alone.

So bring the dream before him with confidence, but let the deeper cry be not only for a job but for his purposes in your life. Commit it to him daily. Trust that your life is in his hands, and ask him to make you useful to your community and to his people in whatever way he chooses, at exactly the right season.

We are so grateful that you shared your heart with us and allowed us to stand in faith with you for your dream job. It is a joy to lift you up before the Lord, believing with you that He has prepared something special for this season of your life. What a testimony it is that God has sustained you through many stages, and now, as your children have grown and your responsibilities have shifted, He is opening a new door for purpose and fulfillment.

We continue to pray that the Lord would make your path clear, aligning every detail according to His perfect will. May He grant you favor in the eyes of those who can help bring this dream to pass, and may He fill you with peace and confidence as you step forward in faith. We believe with you that it is never too late for God to fulfill the desires He has placed in your heart—desires that align with His plans for you to bless your community and the body of Christ.

If the Lord has already answered this prayer in ways you’ve seen or even in ways yet unseen, we would love to rejoice with you. Please share a praise report so we can give Him all the glory. If you’re still waiting, know that we are not growing weary in praying alongside you. We encourage you to keep this request before the Lord, trusting that He is working even now.

May the Holy Spirit strengthen your faith and remind you daily of God’s faithfulness. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
