We hear the fear and confusion in your words, and we stand with you in this spiritual battle. What you describe, a nighttime visitation offering a choice that felt like it carried the weight of your soul, is not of God. Scripture warns us in 1 Peter 5:8, "Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but Jesus came to give life abundantly. This was not a divine encounter but a demonic deception, and we must take authority over it in the name of Jesus Christ.
First, we must address the gravity of any agreements, even accidental or unintentional ones, made with the enemy. In Matthew 12:29, Jesus says, "Or how can one enter into the house of the strong man and plunder his goods, unless he first bind the strong man? Then he will plunder his house." The devil is a liar and a thief, but he cannot stand against the power of the blood of Jesus. We rebuke any foothold he may have gained in your life through this encounter. We break every ungodly soul tie, every word spoken in ignorance or fear, and every spiritual contract that was not made in alignment with God’s will. We declare in the name of Jesus that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we command every lying spirit to flee from you now.
You mentioned being tempted by the devil, and we must also address the condition of your heart. Temptation itself is not sin, but yielding to it is. James 4:7 says, "Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." The enemy preys on weakness, fear, and unbelief, but God provides a way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13). Have you fully surrendered your life to Jesus Christ? If not, now is the time. Romans 10:9-10 tells us, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Salvation is not just a one-time prayer but a daily surrender to Christ as Lord. If you have never made that decision, we urge you to do so now. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12).
We also want to gently but firmly address the language of "bargaining" with spiritual forces. God does not operate through deals or transactions with His children. He is a loving Father who gives good gifts (Matthew 7:11), and His will for you is life, peace, and freedom (Jeremiah 29:11). The enemy, however, twists truth and offers counterfeit promises in exchange for your soul. We must renounce any belief that God’s blessings come through negotiation or compromise with darkness. Every good and perfect gift comes from the Father of lights (James 1:17), and He does not withhold anything good from those who walk uprightly (Psalm 84:11).
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Name that is above every name. We thank You that Your Word declares that the enemy has been disarmed and defeated at the cross (Colossians 2:15). Lord, we stand on Your promises and declare that [this individual] belongs to You. We break every agreement, spoken or unspoken, made with the enemy during this encounter. We cancel every assignment of darkness against [their] life, destiny, and soul. We plead the blood of Jesus over [them], and we declare that no weapon formed against [them] shall prosper.
Father, we ask that You would fill [them] with Your Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth (John 16:13). Reveal any areas of [their] life where the enemy has gained access, through sin, unforgiveness, fear, or unbelief, and cleanse [them] by the blood of Jesus. We pray for a fresh infilling of Your Spirit, that [they] would walk in the authority and power that Christ has given to every believer (Luke 10:19). Strengthen [their] faith, Lord, and help [them] to stand firm in the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18).
We also ask that You would surround [them] with godly community, believers who will pray for [them], encourage [them], and hold [them] accountable. Let [them] not be isolated in this battle, for iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17). Father, we pray for healing from any fear, trauma, or confusion this encounter has caused. Replace those lies with Your truth, and let [them] walk in the freedom that Christ died to give [them] (Galatians 5:1).
Above all, Lord, we pray that [they] would draw near to You. Let [them] seek Your face, not just Your hand (Psalm 27:8). May [they] find [their] identity, security, and purpose in You alone. We declare that the enemy’s plans for [their] life are frustrated, and Your plans for [them], plans for good and not for evil, are established (Jeremiah 29:11).
We thank You, Father, that You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). We thank You that [they] are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves [them] (Romans 8:37). We seal this prayer in the powerful name of Jesus, the Name that breaks every chain. Amen.
We encourage you to take practical steps to guard your spiritual life. Begin each day by submitting to God and resisting the devil (James 4:7). Fill your mind with Scripture, meditate on Psalm 91, Ephesians 6, and Romans 8. Surround yourself with worship music that exalts Jesus and declares His victory. If you have not already, find a local church that preaches the full gospel and is grounded in the Word of God. You do not have to fight this battle alone.
Lastly, if you have never truly surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, we urge you to do so now. Pray this prayer from your heart:
"Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner in need of a Savior. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and rose again on the third day. I repent of my sins and turn away from them. I invite You into my heart and life to be my Lord and Savior. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me to live for You. Thank You for saving me and giving me eternal life. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
If you prayed that prayer for the first time, we rejoice with you! The angels in heaven are celebrating (Luke 15:10), and we encourage you to tell someone about your decision. Begin reading the Bible, start with the Gospel of John, and seek out a Bible-believing church where you can grow in your faith.
You are not alone in this. The same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in you (Romans 8:11). Walk in that truth, and do not let the enemy steal your peace. God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Stand firm, and watch the Lord fight for you.
