Hearing about this wheezing and coughing and the urgent appointments ahead, my heart is moved to pray for you and to ask Jesus to bring His help and comfort to you right now.
Jesus is full of compassion toward those who are suffering in their bodies. When He walked on earth He went through cities and villages teaching and preaching and healing every kind of sickness and disease among the people. Crowds came to Him simply seeking help for their sick, and He never turned them away or scolded them for coming only for relief. He welcomed them. In the same way you can come to Him honestly just as you are, asking for mercy and healing.
Scripture helps us understand why we can come with confidence. Matthew points us to Isaiah where it says He bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses. When Jesus gave the bread at the table and said this is My body broken for you, He was showing that what He suffered was for our whole need, both spiritual and physical. That does not mean we can demand how or when He will heal, but it does mean we can trust that He cares about your breathing and your body and that He has power in the material realm as well as the spiritual.
There is much about healing that we do not fully understand. Sometimes Jesus healed instantly so that a person felt the change in that moment. Sometimes the healing was gradual, and the gospels record one case where sight returned in stages. Both are real healing. Any true healing process is divine, because God Himself designed the body with its ability to recover. He is not limited to one pattern. Sometimes He touched, sometimes He only spoke a word from a distance and the person was made well at home, sometimes He simply willed it. Because He is not confined to a method, we can ask Him to work in whatever way He chooses, whether through a sudden touch or through the natural processes He created and through the wisdom He gives to doctors. Please keep those urgent appointments and let the physicians do their part, while you continue to look to the Lord as the source of all healing.
Faith is part of how we receive from Him. There is a kind of faith that simply knows God is able, and there is the moment when that faith is released to receive what He offers. For the woman who had suffered with bleeding for twelve years, touching the hem of His garment became the point where she released her faith, and she felt healing come into her body. For others it was simply hearing His word. You can release your faith right now in a simple, quiet way by telling Him you trust His power and love and asking Him to do what is best for you.
I also remember how the sisters of Lazarus sent an urgent message to Jesus when their brother was gravely ill, saying the one You love is sick. Jesus heard and He cared deeply, even when His answer unfolded in a way they did not expect. He hears your urgent cry in the same way.
You mentioned Isaiah 54:17, and it is a precious promise that no weapon formed against you shall prosper. Our greatest security is in Him, whatever trial we face.
Let me pray for you. Lord Jesus, You see this struggle to breathe, this wheezing and coughing, and the worry that comes with waiting for appointments. You bore our sicknesses and You understand our weakness. I ask You to lay Your healing hand upon this dear one, to ease the airways, to calm the cough, to bring strength and peace. Guide the doctors and give them clear insight, and let every step toward help be ordered by You. Whether You choose to heal in a moment or through a gradual process, we trust Your goodness and Your will. Fill this heart with Your presence, take away fear, and let Your comfort be felt today. In Your name, Jesus, amen.
