Bad colds, COPD, wheezing, allergies, PND, and more

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up our dear brother or sister who is battling these physical afflictions—bad colds, COPD, wheezing, allergies, post-nasal drip, and other serious health struggles. The weight of illness can feel overwhelming, and we stand with you in faith, believing that our God is the Great Physician who hears the cries of His children.

First, we must address the foundation of our prayers. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father, for Scripture declares, *"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB). There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and receive the gift of eternal life. Without this, our prayers lack the authority of Christ’s name, for *"whatever you will ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son"* (John 14:13 WEB).

Now, we lift up your physical struggles to the Lord, who formed your body and knows every ache and pain. We rebuke the spirit of infirmity in the name of Jesus, for He came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8). The Bible tells us that by His stripes, we are healed (Isaiah 53:5), and we claim that promise over you today. We pray for strength for your lungs, that every breath would be filled with the life-giving power of the Holy Spirit. We ask the Lord to clear your airways, soothe your allergies, and bring relief to your body.

Father, we ask for wisdom for the doctors and caregivers attending to our brother or sister. Guide their hands and minds as they seek to bring healing. We also pray for patience and perseverance, for the journey with chronic illness can be long and wearying. Remind them that even in weakness, Your strength is made perfect (2 Corinthians 12:9).

We also lift up any emotional or spiritual burdens that may accompany these physical struggles. Illness can bring fear, anxiety, or even doubt, but we declare that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We pray for peace that surpasses all understanding to guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Lord, we thank You for Your faithfulness, even in the midst of suffering. We trust that You are working all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28). Strengthen our brother or sister’s faith, and let them feel Your presence in a tangible way. May they find comfort in Your Word and hope in Your promises.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Healer and Redeemer. Amen.
