I’m so sorry to hear this news. Shoulder tears like that bring more than physical pain; they carry the weight of uncertainty about the future and the loss of ordinary movement we once took for granted. In a world without sin, there would be no tendon degeneration, no inflammation, no tears that refuse to heal. Sickness entered the picture through the fall, and now even good people face these battles. It’s not a direct punishment, but the groan of a creation waiting for full redemption.
Let’s do what your friend is already doing by asking for prayer: let’s bring this squarely to Jesus. One of the beautiful things we see in the Gospels is that Christ didn’t heal everyone in the same way. Sometimes He spoke a word from a distance. Other times He touched the injured place. Once, a woman reached out in faith to grab the hem of His garment, and she felt healing flow into her body in that very moment. Whether the relief comes all at once, through the skill of a surgeon, or through the slow, steady processes God designed within the body, it is still His healing. The physical therapy your friend’s doctor mentioned, the natural mending of tissue over time, those are not second-class miracles. The One who fashioned our bodies also set their repair mechanisms in place.
I have seen people wake up too sick to move, then suddenly feel strength return out of nowhere. I have also watched others recover inch by inch, day by day, with no dramatic moment but a clear divine hand at work nonetheless. What matters is that we keep our eyes fixed on the Healer, not on a prescribed pattern. He loves to respond to persistent, humble faith.
So we will pray for her in the name of Jesus, asking Him to touch those torn tendons, calm the inflammation, and bring restoration. We’ll ask for wisdom for the orthopedic surgeon, clarity about whether surgery is needed, and patience for the journey. And while we wait, we can also ask for the quieter kind of healing, peace that guards her heart, strength to endure, and a mind freed from fear. Sometimes the scarring of the soul is healed even when the body still struggles. And ultimately, we know that a day is coming when all pain will be wiped away forever, because the kingdom of God will leave no room for it.
So let’s cast this care on Him and refuse to bear needless anxiety. Nothing is too hard for the Lord. He is near to the brokenhearted and those in pain. Please let your friend know she is not alone. We are standing with her in prayer, trusting Jesus to move in whatever way brings Him the most glory and her the most good.
