Attack my body for no reason to get high blood pressure

It is understandable to feel distressed and even frightened when your body suddenly comes under pressure and there seems to be no clear reason for it. That sense of being attacked without warning can itself create more stress, and you are right to bring it to the Lord and ask for His help.

Scripture gives blood a very special place. God said that the life of the flesh is in the blood, and He gave it a central role in making atonement. That is why under the old covenant the high priest could not enter the most holy place without blood, first for his own sin and then for the sins of the people, and he had to do it again year after year. Those repeated offerings could only cover sin for a time and showed that something more was needed.

Jesus Christ has become our great High Priest. He did not enter an earthly tent made by hands, but heaven itself, to appear before God on our behalf. He did not come with the blood of animals, but with His own blood, offered once for all. Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness, and it is His blood that cleanses from all sin and obtained eternal redemption for us. God taught His people to have deep respect for blood because it represents life itself, and that respect points us to the value of the life Jesus gave for us.

That same Jesus also cares about the healing of the body. When He suffered, He made provision not only for spiritual cleansing but for our whole need, and the Scriptures show Him healing sickness and restoring those who suffered. We can come to Him with confidence because our High Priest is not distant, but present with us and representing us before the Father.

Fear is one of the most common tools used to unsettle God's children, and fear and faith cannot rule the heart at the same time. When fear takes hold, faith is pushed aside, and when faith in the Lord is strong, fear must leave. The cause of fear is often fixing our eyes on the threat, on what might happen or on what we cannot explain. The cure is to remember the Lord, that He is with you, that He is greater than any attack, and that He is your confidence. Even when your heart is troubled and your body feels pressure, you can say with the psalmist, I will not fear evil, for You are with me.

It is wise and prudent to care for your body as well. High blood pressure can have many causes that are not always obvious, and it is good to have medical guidance alongside prayer, not out of fear of what might happen, but out of stewardship of the life God has given you. Bring both the physical need and the spiritual distress to Him.

Let us pray for you. Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this dear one before You. You see the sudden pressure in the body and the distress of not knowing why it comes. You know that life is in the blood and You value and understand this body You created. We ask for Your peace to guard heart and mind, for fear to be replaced with confident faith in Your presence. We ask for Your healing touch upon the body, for wisdom for any care that is needed, and for steady, healthy life. Cover this need with the blood of Jesus, our High Priest who ever lives to intercede for us, and let Your calm and strength be felt each day. Amen.
