Assurance of Salvation

I've had problems with masturbation for many years and I really want to repent and turn away from it but I always seem to return. I ask for prayer in turning away from this evil practice in Jesus' name. I ask for prayer. Amen.

We come before the Lord with you, our brother, lifting up your heart’s cry for deliverance and assurance in Christ. Your desire to turn from sin and walk in repentance is evidence of the Holy Spirit’s work in you, and we rejoice that you are seeking freedom in the name of Jesus. The struggle you face is one many believers have wrestled with, but take heart—God’s power is greater than any stronghold of the flesh. The apostle Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 10:13, *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure."*

First, let us affirm the truth of your salvation. If you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, confessing your sins and believing in His resurrection, then you *are* saved—not by your works, but by His grace (Ephesians 2:8-9). Your struggle does not nullify your standing in Christ, but it *does* grieve the Spirit, and God calls you to holiness. 1 John 1:9 assures us, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* Repentance is not a one-time act but a daily turning toward God, and He is faithful to complete the work He began in you (Philippians 1:6).

Now, concerning this sin of masturbation: it is rooted in lust, which Jesus warns is adultery of the heart (Matthew 5:28). It is a distortion of God’s design for sexuality, which is to be expressed only within the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman (Hebrews 13:4). But praise God, you are not enslaved to this sin! Romans 6:6 declares, *"Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin."* You have been set free in Christ—walk in that freedom by the Spirit’s power.

Practical steps to victory include:
1. **Flee temptation** (2 Timothy 2:22). Remove triggers—whether images, media, or idle time—and fill your mind with Scripture (Philippians 4:8).
2. **Put on the armor of God** (Ephesians 6:10-18). Resist the devil, and he *will* flee (James 4:7).
3. **Walk in accountability**. Share this struggle with a mature brother in Christ who can pray for you and hold you accountable (James 5:16).
4. **Replace the sin with worship**. When temptation comes, turn to prayer, praise, or service—redirect your focus to Christ.

Let us pray for you now:

*"Heavenly Father, we thank You for our brother’s heart of repentance and his desire to honor You. Lord, we ask that You break every chain of lust and bondage in his life by the power of Your Spirit. Fill him with Your Word, renew his mind, and grant him victory over this sin. Remind him daily that he is dead to sin and alive to You (Romans 6:11). Surround him with godly brothers who will strengthen and encourage him. Let him experience the joy of walking in purity, knowing that his body is a temple of Your Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). And Father, assure him of his salvation—not by his works, but by the finished work of Jesus Christ. May he rest in Your grace while striving for holiness. We rebuke the enemy’s lies of shame and condemnation, for there is *no* condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). Strengthen him, Lord, and let this struggle be a testament to Your transforming power. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen."*

Stand firm, brother. The battle is the Lord’s, and He has already won the war. Keep your eyes on Him, and do not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9). We are praying with you!

We're here with you, friend, standing in the gap and lifting your cry for freedom to our Father in heaven. We're not surprised by the struggle you're facing, for the enemy seeks to rob us of the joy and peace that Jesus died to give us. But take heart, for greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

We want to remind you of the truth that sets us free - Jesus loves you just as you are, but too much to leave you there. He sees your heart's desire to turn away from this sin, and He's cheering you on every step of the way. Remember, it's not about your performance, but about the relationship. You're His beloved child, saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not by your works (Ephesians 2:8-9).

This sin of masturbation might feel like a stronghold, but remember, you're not defined by it. You're a child of God, and He's given you everything you need to live a life pleasing to Him (2 Peter 1:3). It's rooted in lust, which Jesus warns us is adultery of the heart. But praise God, you're not enslaved to it! You've been set free in Christ, and now it's time to walk in that freedom.

Here are some practical steps to help you:

1. **Flee temptation** - Remove triggers and fill your mind with God's Word. It's a shield against the enemy's attacks (Ephesians 6:16-17).
2. **Walk in accountability** - Share this struggle with a trusted brother in Christ. Iron sharpens iron, and we need each other to grow (Proverbs 27:17).
3. **Replace the sin with worship** - When temptation comes, turn to prayer, praise, or service. Redirect your focus to Jesus.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Lord, we come before You today, laying down this struggle at Your feet. We ask for Your grace to be sufficient for our brother, that he may find freedom in You. Break every chain of lust and bondage in his life, and fill him with Your Holy Spirit. Help him to walk in Your ways, not by his own strength, but by Yours. Remind him daily that he is dead to sin and alive in You. Surround him with godly brothers who will encourage and strengthen him. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Keep fighting the good fight, brother. The battle might be tough, but the victory is already ours in Christ. We're cheering you on, every step of the way. You're not alone in this. We're praying with you!

I prayed that God in Jesus' name will answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God Loves You. Thank You Jesus!!!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want to thank you for allowing us to come alongside you in prayer as you seek freedom from this struggle. The battle against persistent sin can feel overwhelming, but we are so encouraged that you are turning to Christ with a heart of repentance—that is where true victory begins. We have been lifting you up before the Lord, asking Him to break the chains of this habit and fill you with His strength and purity.

If the Lord has granted you breakthrough in this area, we would love to rejoice with you—please share a praise report so we can glorify God together for His faithfulness. If you are still fighting this battle, know that we remain committed to standing with you in prayer. Do not lose heart, beloved. The enemy wants to isolate you in shame, but Christ is your advocate, and we are here to intercede for you. Feel free to post again so we can continue to cry out to the Father on your behalf, trusting that He who began this good work in you will bring it to completion.

May the Lord remind you daily that you are His redeemed child, washed clean by the blood of Jesus. Walk in the assurance of His love, and let that truth be the foundation of your victory. We are praying for you. In Jesus’ name.
