Asking the Lord

Beloved of All
Is it wrong to apply for government assistance after losing income? Is they a lack of faith? And how sow we know thet the ext steps are the. Every single door is closed. When none of the so-called Safety. Was csn help. Where bout I’d you be been abused and feel Like you’ll never come. Family and friends have turned out to be bullies parents gone. The way people are. SOME people they can’t be trusted. Father in Jesus name please help. My faith wavers. And that’s the truth. Inner people trying to pull me in an ungodly direction. And I can’t seesn end to it It’s like the enemy sends these people out of Nowhere.

We hear the heaviness in your heart and we join with you in bringing it before the Father in Jesus' name, and we thank you for being honest that your faith wavers, for God honors truthfulness before Him.

You ask if it is wrong to apply for government assistance after losing income and if it is a lack of faith, and we want to assure you it is not a lack of faith to seek help when you have a genuine need. Faith does not mean refusing the means God may provide. We are taught that if anyone will not work, neither let him eat in 2 Thessalonians 3:10, and we are called to work diligently and provide for our households as we are able, yet Scripture also shows God providing through many channels and calls His people to care for those in need. He is our provider and He promises my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus in Philippians 4:19, and sometimes that supply comes through the work of our hands, sometimes through His church, and sometimes through the authorities and structures He allows to exist for the good of people in Romans 13:4. To humbly apply for temporary assistance while you seek work and steward what you have is not shameful, it is being honest about your need and allowing God to sustain you in a hard season. What would lack faith is to trust the assistance more than the Provider, so we encourage you to seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well in Matthew 6:33, trusting Him whether the help comes or not.

You ask how to know the next steps when every single door seems closed and the so-called safety nets cannot help. We understand how disorienting that feels, especially when family and friends have turned into bullies and your parents are gone and some people cannot be trusted. People will fail us, but God will not. We are told trust in Yahweh with all your heart and don't lean on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight in Proverbs 3:5-6, and I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go, I will counsel you with my eye on you in Psalm 32:8. When doors close, we do not always know why, but we know God is still leading. He promises For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you hope and a future in Jeremiah 29:11, and that in all things God works for good with those who love him, those who are called according to his purpose in Romans 8:28. The next step is often a small step of obedience, to ask for wisdom, for if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach and it will be given to him in James 1:5, to remain in prayer, in the Word, and in fellowship with trustworthy believers who will speak truth, and to wait on Him, for those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength in Isaiah 40:31.

We also hear your pain about being abused and feeling like you will never overcome, and about being pulled in an ungodly direction by people who seem to come out of nowhere. The Lord sees this and He hates abuse and oppression, and He is close to the brokenhearted. We want to remind you that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble in Psalm 46:1, and when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I in Psalm 61:2. Cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you in 1 Peter 5:7. We rebuke together the works of the enemy who seeks to exploit your vulnerability, for your struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places in Ephesians 6:12, and the adversary walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour in 1 Peter 5:8. We rebuke any invitation to an ungodly direction and we choose to submit therefore to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you in James 4:7. Those people who pull you toward what is ungodly are not sent by God, and we encourage you to set clear boundaries, to turn away from them, and to seek godly counsel in a Bible believing church where you can be protected and discipled. It is right that you do not trust everyone, for blessed is the man who trusts in Yahweh in Jeremiah 17:7, and we can trust Him fully when we cannot trust people.

Your wavering faith does not disqualify you. Even the father who cried I believe, help my unbelief in Mark 9:24 was heard by Jesus. God does not despise an honest heart, and He is the one who keeps us. Fear not, for I am with you, don't be dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness in Isaiah 41:10.

We pray together for you now.

Father in Jesus' name we lift up this dear one to You. You see the loss of income, the closed doors, the disappointment with every safety net, the wounds from abuse and bullying, the loneliness of parents gone, the confusion about next steps, the wavering faith and the assault of ungodly influences. We ask You to be their provider and protector, to open the right door in Your timing and to give clear wisdom for each next step. Provide for daily needs and give opportunity for dignified work. Heal the wounds of abuse and betrayal, surround them with trustworthy, godly people and a faithful church family, and teach them to discern and resist those the enemy sends to pull them away from You. Strengthen wavering faith, remind them that You are near and that You will never leave nor forsake them in Hebrews 13:5. Let Your peace guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus in Philippians 4:7. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

Thank you for being so honest about where you are. Losing income when every door feels closed is a heavy, disorienting loss, and it makes sense your faith feels shaky right now. We hear also how alone you feel after being hurt by people you should have been able to trust, and how tiring it is when others keep pulling you toward choices you know are not right.

Asking whether it is wrong to apply for government help is a good and careful question. Needing help after a job loss is not a lack of faith. God often provides through the practical means around us, and using available assistance while you get back on your feet can be a wise and humble step, not a failure to trust Him. It does not mean you are giving up on Him to also fill out the paperwork.

It can help to separate what has already happened from what you are afraid will happen next. The loss of income is real and painful right now. The fear that you will never recover or that no help will ever come is understandable, but it is a fear about the future, not what is settled yet. Naming that difference can keep the worry from feeling even bigger than it already is.

If it would help, choose one small next step this week instead of trying to solve everything at once. That could be sitting down with one steady, trustworthy person, a pastor or a caseworker at the assistance office, and walking through one application together, and also being clear with anyone pressuring you in an ungodly direction that you need space.

Father in Jesus name, we lift our friend to You in this hard stretch. You see the closed doors and the hurt from people who have not been safe. Give wisdom for each next step, provide for daily needs, surround them with trustworthy help, and guard their heart when faith wavers. Keep them close to You and give peace that You have not left them. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your honest and broken prayer has come before the Lord and He hears the cry of a wavering heart. Do not think that to ask for lawful help in a time of need is a lack of faith. The Lord is pleased to feed His people by many means, and to use the provisions of the land and the laws of the land for the preservation of life. To apply for assistance when income has failed, while you seek honest work and walk uprightly, is not unbelief. Faith does not refuse the staff that God puts into the hand. Strong faith is content to take God's bare Word and trust Him, whether help comes by miracle or by ordinary providence, and to thank Him for bread wherever He sends it. Let your conscience be at peace in this. Seek what is lawful and needful with thankfulness, and ask the Lord to make you a faithful steward of whatever He provides, keeping your heart from covetousness and your hands diligent.

You say every door is closed and you cannot see the next step, and that your faith wavers. That confession is itself precious, for little faith is still true faith when it begins and ends with Jesus. The least faith in Jesus is the gift of God and it is like precious faith, though it be not like strong faith. If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you can do wonders, for its worth lies not in its strength but in its object. Faith is the dropping down into Christ's arms, trusting His person and His promise. He tenderly handles little faith. Why should there be wavering faith in an unwavering promise and a strong Christ. Bring even that wavering faith to Him. The eyes of faith overcome His heart, and He delights to dart inexpressible joy into the soul that looks to Him. He is not wearied by your coming again and again.

You have known abuse and bullying, even from family and friends, and the loss of parents, and you have learned that some people cannot be trusted. This is a bitter school, but God has taught His children in such schools from their youth, educating their faith by many struggles. He was chastened but never cast out, and He still continues as God's pupil. Your sorrow is not hidden from Him. When earthly protectors fail, the Lord Himself is your Father and your shield. Take the shield of faith, which is of Heaven's forging and wrought by the Holy Spirit, and fix it upon the person of Christ, God over all blessed forever, who was sacrificed for us. That shield will cause the swords of the enemy to shiver. And take care that your faith is agreeable to God's Word, depending upon true and real promises, not upon the fictions of men.

You speak of people trying to pull you in an ungodly direction, as if the enemy sends them out of nowhere. It is so. There is a way that seems to offer relief but leads away from holiness, and faith and repentance are inseparable twins. A faith which allows you to think lightly of sin is not the faith of God's elect. Therefore pray for discernment, and do not walk that path to find relief. The enemy would have you believe that compromise will open a door, but it only shuts the door of peace with God. Resist him steadfast in the faith, and seek the fellowship of sober, godly people who will walk with you according to Scripture. If you are in danger or being pressed toward sin, seek at once the help of a faithful pastor and of trustworthy, godly counsel in your local church, and where safety requires it, the help of lawful authorities. Do not remain isolated with those who would lead you astray.

How shall you know the next steps when you cannot see an end to it. Go to God's Word, which is preserved century after century and speaks with freshness and force as if uttered anew tonight. There you hear God's thoughts, which are higher than our thoughts. Read it daily, pray over it, and ask the Lord to teach you. Then seek counsel from those who fear God and know your case, not from those who mock or bully. Provide for the day's duty that lies nearest to hand, be faithful in little things, pray at the hour of prayer, and leave tomorrow with Him. We pray at every prayer meeting that God would save and keep and provide, and we must believe that He certainly will hear us. If we do not, we shall lose the blessing.

This hardness of heart in others, this closed door, this rejection, is only a stage upon which the grace of God in answer to prayerful faith shall come and do its wonders. If you believe, you shall see the glory of God. He who cleanses from all sin by the blood of Jesus Christ, His dear Son, will not lay your wavering to your charge when you cling to Christ. Look to Him now, just as you are, and live. May the Lord give you bread for the body, peace for the troubled mind, protection from those who would harm you, and a steady look to Jesus until light breaks and the way opens before you.
