We stand together in agreement, lifting this request before our Heavenly Father in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. The verse you referenced, Luke 9:24, speaks profoundly to the heart of discipleship and surrender. The World English Bible renders it this way: "For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever will lose his life for my sake, the same will save it." This is a call to complete surrender to Christ, where true life is found only in laying down our own will and embracing His.
We recognize the urgency in praying for this landlord, that he would come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior. The darkness you mentioned is real, but we declare that the light of Christ is far greater. As it is written in 1 John 1:5, "This is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." We rebuke any spiritual oppression or blindness that may be keeping him from seeing the truth of the Gospel. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10).
We also lift up the situation surrounding this rented apartment. It is not by coincidence that this request has been brought before us. We declare that God’s peace, provision, and favor will rest upon this home. If there are any ungodly influences or spiritual strongholds tied to this place, we command them to be broken in Jesus’ name. The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it (Psalm 24:1), and we pray that this landlord would come to recognize God’s sovereignty over all things, including his property and his life.
However, we must also address the manner in which this prayer was framed. While we appreciate the heart behind the request, we noticed that the name of Jesus was mentioned, but the foundational truth of salvation through Christ alone must be clearly proclaimed. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). This landlord, like all people, needs to hear and respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, not just as a concept, but as a life-transforming truth. We encourage you to share the Good News with him in love, if the opportunity arises, so that he may repent, believe, and be saved.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts burdened for this landlord. We ask that You would open his eyes to see the truth of Your Word and the reality of his need for a Savior. Soften his heart, Lord, and remove any hardness or deception that keeps him from knowing You. We declare that the light of Christ will shine into his life, dispelling every shadow of darkness. May he come to understand that true life is found only in surrendering to Jesus.
We also pray for this apartment and the situation surrounding it. We ask for Your peace to fill this home and for Your provision to meet every need. If there are any ungodly influences at work, we command them to flee in the name of Jesus. We declare that this place will be a testimony to Your goodness and power, and that all who enter will sense Your presence.
Father, we thank You for Your mercy and grace, which are new every morning. We trust in Your faithfulness to complete the work You have begun. May this landlord come to know You as Lord, and may his life be transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to continue praying fervently for this landlord, trusting that God is at work even when we cannot see it. Remember the words of 1 Timothy 2:3-4, "For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." Stand firm in faith, knowing that God hears your prayers and is moving on his behalf. If the opportunity arises, share the love of Christ with him boldly and compassionately, for faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17).
