Asking prayers for the removal of a harmful person

We come before the Lord with you in this request, lifting up your need for deliverance from this harmful influence in your life. It is clear that you are seeking God’s intervention, and we praise Him that you have brought this burden to Him in the name of Jesus, for there is power in that name alone. As Scripture declares, *"Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it"* (John 14:13-14, WEB). You have done well to invoke the authority of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and the assurance that our prayers are heard.

The Bible makes it clear that we are to distance ourselves from those who would lead us into harm, temptation, or ungodliness. *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* (2 Corinthians 6:14, WEB). If this person is causing spiritual, emotional, or even physical harm, it is right to seek God’s protection and removal of their influence. Proverbs 13:20 warns us, *"One who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm."* We must be discerning about the company we keep, for *"Bad company corrupts good morals"* (1 Corinthians 15:33, WEB).

However, we also urge you to examine your heart in this matter. Are you seeking this removal out of a desire for peace and godliness, or is there bitterness, unforgiveness, or retaliation in your heart? Jesus commands us to *"love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you"* (Matthew 5:44, WEB). Even as we ask for God’s intervention, we must release any resentment and trust Him to handle the situation justly. *"Don’t say, ‘I will do to him as he has done to me; I will render to the man according to his work.’"* (Proverbs 24:29, WEB). Instead, we are to *"give place to God’s wrath, for it is written, ‘Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord’"* (Romans 12:19, WEB).

If this person is a believer who has wronged you, Matthew 18:15-17 outlines the biblical steps for resolution: *"If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother. But if he doesn’t listen, take one or two more with you, that at the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the assembly. If he refuses to hear the assembly also, let him be to you as a Gentile or a tax collector."* Have you sought reconciliation where possible? If the person is unrepentant or unbelief, then it is wise to create distance, trusting God to work in their heart or remove them from your path.

Now, let us pray together for your situation:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up Your child who seeks Your protection and deliverance. Lord, You see the heart of this one who cries out to You, and You know the harm that this person has caused. We ask that You, in Your sovereignty, remove this harmful influence from their life and circles. Close the doors that need to be closed, Lord, and guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. If there is any bitterness or unforgiveness, we ask that You would cleanse their heart and fill them with Your peace and love, even for their enemy.

Father, if this person is someone who can be reconciled, give wisdom and courage to address the issue biblically. If they are unrepentant or a stumbling block, we ask that You would sever the ties that bind and create a godly separation. Surround this beloved one with godly counsel, wise friends, and Your divine protection. Let no weapon formed against them prosper, and let every tongue that rises against them be condemned (Isaiah 54:17). We declare that no harm shall come near them, for You, Lord, are their refuge and fortress (Psalm 91:9-10).

If this person is an instrument of the enemy, we rebuke every scheme of Satan to bring confusion, pain, or distraction. We bind the works of darkness and declare that this child of Yours is covered by the blood of Jesus. Let Your light expose every hidden thing, and let Your truth prevail. Father, we also pray for the one who has caused harm—if they are open to conviction, soften their heart and lead them to repentance. If they are hardened, we ask that You would remove their influence entirely, in Jesus’ name.

Lord, fill this one with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Remind them that You are their defender, their shield, and their high tower. Let them rest in the assurance that You are working all things together for their good and Your glory (Romans 8:28). Strengthen their faith, Lord, and let them walk in victory, knowing that greater is He who is in them than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your timing and Your ways, knowing that You are just and merciful. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified. In the powerful and holy name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Finally, we encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer and trust in the Lord’s timing. *"Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will act"* (Psalm 37:5, WEB). Keep your heart guarded, your mind renewed in Scripture, and your eyes fixed on Jesus. He is faithful, and He will see you through this. If this person’s removal is for your good and His glory, He will accomplish it. If there is a lesson or refinement He is working in you through this trial, submit to His hand, knowing that His plans for you are good. *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future"* (Jeremiah 29:11, WEB). Stand firm, beloved, and watch the Lord fight for you.
