Thank you for trusting us with this burden for your son. Your love and care for him is evident, and it is right to bring this fear before the Lord and to seek help from those responsible for his care at school.
We are praying for your son. To be spoken to harshly when he was already struggling to understand can leave a deep mark, and it is understandable that he now feels afraid and does not want to go back. Children are tender and sensitive, and the Lord has a special care for them. Scripture shows Jesus taking a little child into his arms and holding him close, showing how precious children are to him and how he receives and comforts them. We are asking the Lord to hold your son in that same gentle way, to quiet his heart, and to replace fear with peace.
Fear is a common tool that can keep a child of God from moving forward, and the cure for fear is to remember the Lord and his presence with us. We are praying that your son will come to know in a simple, childlike way that the Lord is with him, that greater is he who is with us than any difficulty around us, and that the Lord will be his confidence and keep him steady. We are also praying that you will be able to encourage him with great patience, as a parent encourages a child who is learning to walk. You expect stumbles and you do not scold for falling, you encourage the next steps. In the same way, he may need time and gentle encouragement to try again, and each small step forward can be praised.
Healing, whether of body or of heart, is sometimes gradual. There are healings that come at once and healings that come little by little as the Lord restores over time. We are praying for a steady and full healing of this frightened feeling, that day by day the pain of that moment would fade and courage would grow. Even as a child with a sore stomach must learn again that eating will not always bring pain, your son can learn again that school can be a safe place.
We are praying for you as you speak with the principal, that the conversation will be marked by understanding and compassion and by a true desire for what is best for your son. We are praying that the teacher will also respond with humility and kindness, and that the school will handle this with wisdom and care so that your son feels heard and protected.
May the Lord, who hears prayer, hear your prayer for your son and grant you wisdom as you guide him. We are asking him to arise over your son with healing and comfort, to calm his fears, to give him peace about returning, and to let him grow up with joy and confidence in the Lord's care.
