asking prayers for my son

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Please include my son in your prayers. he is ### years old and recently had a bad encounter with his teacher. his teacher raised his voice at him because he couldn’t understand and repeat the word he was being asked to say. Since then, he has been scared and doesn’t want to go to school. we will be speaking with the principal, and I’m praying that everything will turn out well and that they will handle the situation with understanding and compassion. Please pray for my son

We join you in lifting up your precious son before our Heavenly Father and we share your concern for his tender heart after this frightening experience in the classroom. We know how deeply a harsh word can wound a child and how quickly fear can take root, and we bring him before the Lord asking for healing, comfort and renewed joy for school.

We are reminded that children are close to the heart of Jesus. But Jesus said, Allow the little children to come to me, and don't hinder them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to ones like these Matthew 19:14. The Lord sees your son, He knows his name, his struggles with that word, and the fear that now makes him not want to go to school. We pray that fear will be replaced with peace. For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you Psalm 56:3. We speak that trust over your son, that he will know he is safe and deeply loved. Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. We also claim the promise that In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7, and we ask that this peace guard your son's heart and your heart as his parent.

We pray for wisdom and grace as you meet with the principal. But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him James 1:5. We ask God to give you calm and clear words and to give the principal and the teacher understanding and compassion. A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger Proverbs 15:1. A teacher raising his voice because a child could not understand and repeat a word does not reflect the patience God calls us to, and we pray the teacher will recognize this and respond with gentleness going forward. We encourage you to go in a spirit of grace and truth, seeking restoration rather than contention, modeling for your son how to address hurt with forgiveness while also protecting him. Continue to train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it Proverbs 22:6, by reassuring him daily, praying with him before school, speaking scripture over his fear at bedtime, and reminding him that his worth is not in perfect performance but in being a child of God.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus and we gently want to remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins and that God raised Him from the dead, and confessing Him as Lord, that we are saved and that our prayers are heard. We encourage you to place your full trust in Him as you intercede for your son.

We pray together now. Heavenly Father, we lift up this precious son to You and ask You to wrap him in Your perfect love which casts out fear. Heal the memory of being shouted at, quiet his anxious thoughts, and restore his confidence and desire to learn. Let him feel Your presence with him in the classroom and give him peace to try again without fear of failure. We lift up his parents and give them wisdom, words of grace, and favor as they speak with the principal. We pray for the teacher, that You would soften his heart, give him patience and understanding for every child entrusted to him, and help him to correct with kindness. We pray for the principal to handle this situation with compassion and justice. Let this meeting bring healing and a safe path forward for this child. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, Amen.

We encourage you to keep praying with your son each morning, remind him that God is with him wherever he goes, and celebrate his efforts more than his perfection. Trust that God is working even in this difficult moment for his good and for the good of all involved.

We are holding you and your son in prayer after reading your note. It makes sense he would feel shaken after being shouted at for not understanding a word, and it shows how attentive you are that you noticed how scared he feels about going back and are stepping in to speak with the principal.

That meeting is a good next step. It can help to bring a short note in your own words about what your son shared, how he has been feeling since, and what you are hoping for, simply that he feels safe and respected and able to ask for help when he does not understand. Asking how the teacher and principal plan to rebuild trust with him can keep the conversation gentle and cooperative.

At home, many children are helped by having space to tell the story at their own pace without needing to fix it right away. Letting him know it is okay to feel nervous and that not understanding does not mean he did anything wrong can ease a lot of pressure. You might practice a simple phrase together he can use if he feels stuck again, like “I don’t understand yet, can you say it again slowly.” Keeping mornings predictable and goodbyes brief and warm often helps the return to school feel steadier.

We are praying for wisdom and kindness in that meeting and for peace for your son.

Father, we lift this boy to You and ask for Your peace to steady his heart. Give his parents calm and clear words as they meet with the principal, and give his teacher understanding and gentleness. Help this child feel safe, seen and loved at school and at home. In Jesus’ name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We have heard your request and we join you in bringing your dear son before the throne of grace, and we pray that the God of all comfort will overshadow him with His tender care.

Our Lord Jesus has a special love for little ones, and He is gentle with those who are fearful and trembling. As it is written, He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds, and even the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. There is healing virtue in Christ, not only in His great acts but in His least touches, to calm a troubled spirit and to make the fearful heart to rest again. We pray that this healing will flow to your son, that his fear may be softened and his spirit quieted, and that he may know himself safe in the care of his Saviour and in the love of those who watch over him.

We pray also for you as you speak with the principal, that the Lord will give you wisdom and calm words, and that those who have authority in the school may hear with understanding and compassion. We ask that the teacher may be given a gentle and patient heart toward the children committed to his care, and that this encounter may be turned to good, so that your son may return to his learning without dread.

May the Lord keep your household in peace, and grant to your son a renewed confidence and joy in going up to his school. We commend him to Him who said, Let the little children come unto me, trusting that He who watches over sparrows and lambs will watch over this little one and restore to him a quiet mind.

We will continue to pray that the Lord will make His presence known in your home and in that school, bringing healing and reconciliation according to His mercy.
