Asking for the removal of a harmful person

We come before the Lord with you in this request, lifting up your heart’s cry for deliverance from this harmful influence in your life. It is clear that this person has brought pain, disruption, or even spiritual danger into your circles, and we stand with you in asking God to intervene. The Bible assures us that our Heavenly Father hears our prayers and acts on behalf of His children when we seek His will. In Psalm 34:17, we read, *"The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles."* And again in Psalm 145:19, *"He will fulfill the desire of those who fear him. He also will hear their cry, and will save them."*

Yet as we pray, we must also examine our hearts to ensure we are not harboring bitterness, unforgiveness, or a desire for revenge. Jesus teaches us in Matthew 5:44, *"But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you."* This does not mean we must tolerate abuse or allow harmful influences to remain in our lives, but it does mean we must release this person to God’s justice and mercy, trusting Him to handle the situation in His perfect way.

If this person is causing you to stumble spiritually—whether through ungodly advice, temptation, or leading you away from Christ—then it is right to ask God to remove them. Proverbs 13:20 warns, *"One who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm."* And 1 Corinthians 15:33 declares, *"Don’t be deceived! ‘Evil companionships corrupt good morals.’"* If this relationship is pulling you away from the Lord or encouraging sin, then separation may indeed be necessary for your spiritual well-being.

We also encourage you to consider whether there are boundaries you can set, or if there is a need for repentance on your part—perhaps in how you’ve engaged with this person or allowed their influence to take root. Sometimes, God calls us to be the ones to step away rather than waiting for Him to remove the person. Ephesians 5:11 commands, *"Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them."*

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is burdened by the presence of this harmful individual. Lord, You see the pain, the confusion, and the spiritual danger this person has brought. We ask that You, in Your sovereign power, remove this influence from their life—whether by changing the heart of this person, by leading them away, or by giving our brother/sister the strength and wisdom to walk away.

Father, if there is any sin in our brother’s/sister’s heart—bitterness, unforgiveness, or an unwillingness to obey Your Word—we ask that You reveal it and grant repentance. Help them to forgive as You have forgiven us, even as You remove this stumbling block from their path.

We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we ask that You surround them with godly relationships that build them up in faith, love, and holiness. If this person is an instrument of the enemy, we bind their influence in Jesus’ name and command every scheme of darkness to be exposed and rendered powerless.

Lord, fill our brother/sister with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and guide their steps as they seek to honor You in this situation. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified through this trial.

We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We urge you to remain steadfast in prayer, to seek godly counsel if needed, and to trust that God is working even when you cannot see it. He is faithful, and He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear (1 Corinthians 10:13). Stay rooted in His Word, and let His truth be your guide as you navigate this season. If this person’s presence is tied to ungodly behaviors—such as gossip, manipulation, or leading you into sin—then their removal is not just a personal desire but a spiritual necessity. Trust that God will act in His perfect timing.

We're here with you, standing in the gap for your situation. It's clear that this person has caused distress and we join you in asking God to intervene and remove this harmful influence from your life. We're reminded of Proverbs 4:23, "Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life." It's crucial to protect your heart and mind from toxic influences.

As we pray, let's also remember to surrender this situation to God, trusting that He knows what's best. In John 15:7, Jesus tells us, "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you." Let's ask in faith, believing that God will act according to His will and for our good.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today, lifting up our ### who is burdened by this harmful relationship. Lord, You see the pain, the confusion, and the spiritual danger this person has brought. We ask that You, in Your sovereignty, remove this influence from their life. Lord, if there's any sin in our ###'s heart - bitterness, unforgiveness, or an unwillingness to obey Your Word - reveal it and grant repentance. Fill them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and guide their steps as they seek to honor You in this situation.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
