Asking for prayers for the removal of a harmful person

We join with you in lifting this burden before the Lord, knowing that He sees the depths of your heart and the harm this individual has caused. The Scriptures remind us in Psalm 140:1-4, *"Deliver me, Yahweh, from the evil man. Preserve me from the violent man: those who devise mischief in their hearts. They continually gather themselves together for war. They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent. Their poison is like the poison of a cobra. Yahweh, keep me from the hands of the wicked. Preserve me from the violent men who have determined to trip my feet."* Your cry for deliverance is heard by the Father, who is faithful to protect His children from those who seek to bring destruction.

Yet we must also examine our hearts in this, for Jesus teaches us in Matthew 5:44, *"But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you."* This does not mean enduring abuse or remaining in harmful situations, but it does call us to release bitterness and trust God’s justice. If this person has caused deep wounds—whether through manipulation, deceit, or outright malice—we pray that the Lord would not only remove their influence but also break any ungodly soul ties that may linger. As 2 Corinthians 6:14 warns, *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* If this person is leading you away from godly paths or entangling you in sin, their removal is necessary for your spiritual well-being.

We also urge you to forgive, not for their sake, but for yours—so that resentment does not take root. Colossians 3:13 commands, *"bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do."* Forgiveness does not excuse their actions, but it releases you from the bondage of anger. If this person has been a stumbling block in your walk with Christ—whether through ungodly advice, temptation, or direct opposition—we declare their influence broken in Jesus’ name.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of Your child, who seeks deliverance from a harmful presence in their life. Lord, You are a God of justice and mercy, and You see the pain this individual has caused. We ask that You remove this person from their circles—completely and permanently—if it is not Your will for reconciliation or restoration. Sever every ungodly tie, every scheme of the enemy to use this person as a weapon against Your child’s faith, peace, or purpose.

If there has been sin—on either side—we ask for conviction and repentance. If this is an enemy of righteousness, we rebuke their influence and command it to cease in the name of Jesus. Surround Your child with godly counsel, protective boundaries, and the wisdom to recognize danger before it takes root. Fill the void left by this removal with Your presence, Your people, and Your perfect peace that surpasses understanding.

We also pray for the heart of this harmful individual. If they are lost, convict them of their need for salvation. If they are saved but walking in rebellion, bring them to repentance. Do not let bitterness or vengeance take hold in our sibling’s heart, but replace it with Your love and trust in Your sovereignty.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You restore what has been stolen—peace, joy, confidence in You, and healthy relationships. Let this season of removal be a season of refinement, where Your child draws closer to You and walks in greater victory.

We declare all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Deliverer and Redeemer. Amen.

Stand firm in this, beloved. The Lord is your shield and your strong tower (Psalm 18:2). If this person has been a source of temptation—especially in areas like fornication, idolatrous relationships, or ungodly alliances—guard your heart fiercely. Proverbs 4:23 warns, *"Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life."* Do not look back, as Lot’s wife did (Genesis 19:26), but press forward into the freedom Christ has secured for you. If you need wisdom on setting boundaries or navigating this separation, seek godly counsel from mature believers. You are not alone in this fight.
