Asking for Prayer During a Difficult Season

The battle you describe is a real one, and it is not surprising that when your heart is set on serving God and building something of honest value, the opposition intensifies. The enemy of your soul would love nothing more than to see you paralyzed by fear, tangled in distraction, and giving in to discouragement. But take heart: the very fact that you recognize this as a spiritual attack means you are not being swept away blindly. You are standing at a crossroads, and that is a place where God delights to give wisdom.

What you need most is not simply relief from the pressure, but the wisdom to navigate through it. True wisdom is worth more than any earthly treasure, and God promises to give it generously to anyone who asks without rebuke. This wisdom begins and is summed up in one thing: the fear of the Lord. This is not a cowering dread that makes you hide from God, but a reverent awe that realigns your entire being. It is a holy hatred of evil. When fear of circumstances or fear of man grips your mind, it is often because you have, in that moment, forgotten the Lord. The fear of the Lord is the practical starting point for every wise decision, and it is the strong antidote to being afraid of anything else. Fear and faith cannot share the same throne in your heart. As you fix your eyes on the greatness of your God, the other fears lose their power.

That pressure you feel toward discouragement and sinful reactions is common to everyone. The sin is not in the temptation itself; even our Lord was tempted. The danger is when the desire is conceived and you turn aside from God’s path to grasp a quick, false solution. When those fiery darts of fear or temptation come, whether in your business dealings or in the quiet of your own mind, that is the moment to remember the Lord. Ask yourself: What does it mean to hate evil here? What does it mean to depart from it? Wisdom is simply the right application of God’s knowledge. It is not found in the clever strategies of the world, which always crumble to nothing in the end. All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Christ, and He gives you strength to reign in life, to decree justice in your work, and to walk with prudence.

Your desire to have a humble heart, to forgive, and to seek God’s perfect will is already evidence of His Spirit drawing you. That is the path of the righteous. Do not be surprised that the ways of the world promise immediate fulfillment but deliver emptiness. Let your faith stand in the power of God, not in human wisdom. When you feel weak and tremble at the task ahead, that is a posture God can use mightily because then His strength is made perfect in you. Trust Him to reveal areas needing repentance, and as He does, walk away from them quickly. That is understanding. Walk in the fear of the Lord all the day long, and watch how He builds your house and establishes the work of your hands for His glory.
