Father, thank You for The Word and Holy Spirit that instruct us, 2 Tim 3:16-17, John 14:26, so we may not be unaware of the enemy's methods, 2 Cor 2:11. We do submit to You as the church Jesus said the gates of hell cannot stand against, Matt 16:18, and resist the devil, James 4:7, resist him firmly in the faith, 1 Pet 5:8, (Faith in Jesus AND the Authority of His Name, John 14:13-14, Mk 16:15-17, His Word, Matt 24:35, Lk 21:33, and His Position, Matt 28:18, Phil 2:9), so he will flee from us, James 4:7.

We do take the same advice as the other two Apostles, resist AND take up Your Armor and stand against, stand, stand firm against the schemes of darkness, by faith and patience we inherit the promises, Heb 6:12. We pray it over ourselves first, in submission to Your Word, even as it was the proper example and pattern of Christ, overcoming the devil first on for His own sake in the wilderness, Mt 4:1-11, Mk 1:12-13, Lk 4:1-13, then overcoming the world, flesh and devil for the world, John 16:33.

Knowing it's proper in airplane trips to be admonished to first place the oxygen mask over our own faces prior to assisting others, we pray the following Armor, Your Armor, The Armor of God, on ourselves, Eph 6:10-17, then for others, Eph 6:18-20, applied by faith, as we receive everything else in the same manner, from salvation, Eph 2:8-9, to answered prayer, Mark 11:24, Heb 11:6, James 1:6...

“Finally, brothers and sisters, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the Whole Armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the Whole Armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with Truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the Gospel of Peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. We stand together in agreement with your powerful declaration, lifting up the full armor of God as our defense and our weapon in this spiritual battle. The Word of God is clear, our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. We must be vigilant, clothed in His truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God, praying always in the Spirit for all the saints.

First, we affirm that we must put on this armor for ourselves, just as Christ demonstrated in the wilderness. He resisted the devil with the Word of God, standing firm in His identity and authority as the Son of God. We, too, must stand firm in our identity in Christ, knowing that we have been given authority over the enemy through the name of Jesus. There is no other name by which we can overcome, no power in heaven or on earth can stand against the name of Jesus. If anyone reading this has not yet surrendered their life to Christ, we urge you to do so now. Believe in the Lord Jesus, confess your sins, and receive His salvation, for "there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).

We take up the belt of truth, rejecting the lies of the enemy and embracing the truth of God’s Word. We put on the breastplate of righteousness, walking in holiness and repentance, knowing that our righteousness comes from Christ alone. We shod our feet with the readiness of the gospel of peace, always prepared to share the good news of Jesus Christ with those who are lost. We take up the shield of faith, trusting in God’s promises and quenching every fiery dart of doubt, fear, and temptation. We place the helmet of salvation on our heads, guarding our minds with the assurance of our eternal security in Christ. And we wield the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, speaking it boldly and declaring it over every situation.

We pray this armor not only over ourselves but over every believer, every saint, and the entire body of Christ. Father, we ask that You would strengthen Your people with boldness to proclaim the mystery of the gospel without fear. Give us utterance, wisdom, and courage to speak Your truth in love, even in the face of opposition. May we not shrink back but stand firm, knowing that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

We resist the devil and his schemes, standing firm in the faith, knowing that he will flee from us (James 4:7). We declare that the gates of hell will not prevail against the church (Matthew 16:18). We pray for those who are persecuted for the sake of the gospel, that they would remain steadfast and unshaken. May Your Spirit empower us all to walk in victory, not as those who are defeated, but as more than conquerors through Christ who loved us (Romans 8:37).

Lord, we thank You for the armor You have provided. We thank You for the victory we have in Jesus. We stand together in faith, praying without ceasing, watching and waiting for Your return. May we be found faithful, bold, and unashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16). In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray and declare these things. Amen.

We’re grateful you brought this here, and we hear the determination in your words, you’re not just asking for armor; you’re actively taking it up, first for yourself and then for the whole body. That order is wise and honest. It’s not selfishness; it’s sobriety. You can’t hand someone else a shield if you haven’t steadied your own grip.

We stand with you in this. The request itself is a weapon. Every time you pray Eph 6 over yourself and then stretch outward toward other believers, you’re doing real, if unseen, damage to the darkness. That’s not hype; it’s faith. And we’re reminded that the power isn’t in the eloquence or the length of the prayer, but in the One whose victory is already secured. Your words echo that.

What you’re doing is part of a long obedience. Keep at it. Some days the armor will feel heavy, and the boldness will seem far off. That’s normal. On those days, the simple act of speaking the truth aloud, even when you don’t feel it, is an act of trust. That’s what the shield of faith catches: the flaming lies that try to make you doubt. So don’t despise the days when it feels like just a discipline. It’s training, and God uses it.

One practical thought: Consider writing down, or sharing with one other praying friend, whatever specific opportunity or fear about boldness is closest to your heart right now. Sometimes naming that directly, even in a sentence, can turn a general prayer into a more pointed, faith-filled step. But whether or not you do that, know that you are not alone in this battle.

Let’s pray briefly together:

Father, thank you for this fellow believer who has put on your armor and now stands in the gap for all the saints. Strengthen the grip on the shield and the sword today, and let the belt of truth hold firm. When they open their mouth, grant the words and the courage to speak the mystery of the gospel clearly and without fear. Do the same for your whole church, we ask. In Jesus’ mighty name, amen.

The prayer that rises from this assembly is one after the divine order, for it begins where all true spiritual warfare must begin, with the soul’s own cleaving to Christ and the armor He supplies. You have rightly perceived that a warrior must be girded before he ventures to gird another, that the oxygen of heavenly life must first fill his own lungs before he can assist the gasping. This is no selfishness, but the necessary preparation born of the Spirit’s wisdom. How can a man cry, “Stand,” who has not learned to stand himself? How can he wield the Sword of the Spirit for another’s deliverance if his own hand trembles for want of faith? The order is fixed: put on the whole armor of God first, then pray with all perseverance for all saints. To reverse this is to enter the battle as a naked man, a target for every fiery dart.

The armor itself is nothing less than Christ applied to the soul’s every capacity. The loins girt with truth, what is this but the soul’s conscious submission to the verities of the Gospel, the sovereign certainty that God’s Word is yea and amen? The breastplate of righteousness, this is no fabricated merit, but the impenetrable righteousness of Jesus, received by faith, which guards the heart against every accusation of the accuser. The feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel of peace, this is a readiness springing from a reconciled heart, a firmness in every step born of knowing we are at peace with God through the blood of the everlasting covenant. The shield of faith quenches not merely arrows but fiery darts, for faith identifies the incoming missile as a tactic of the wicked one and receives it upon a substance that cannot burn, the faithfulness of a covenant-keeping God. The helmet of salvation covers the head, the seat of thought and doctrine, with the assured hope of final deliverance. And the sword? It is the uttered Word of God, the rhema, the open mouth of the believer wielding a “Thus says the Lord” against every scheme of darkness. This is the panoply of God, divinely wrought, divinely supplied, and only efficacious when taken up in submission to the Commander’s orders.

Now this prayer for utterance, this plea to speak the mystery of the Gospel boldly, touches the very heart of the reason the armor is given. The devil’s wiles are never more subtle than when he would seal our lips. He cares little how much we furbish the armor in the chamber so long as we never carry it into the conflict of public testimony. But the Spirit moves in exactly the opposite direction. When the saints are truly praying, the mystery which was hidden for ages breaks forth upon their tongues like a pent-up fire. The glorious Gospel of the blessed God cannot be permanently hid, for it is the revelation of the happy God, the image of the invisible, and it must shine. Yet it pleases God, in His marvellous economy, to employ the proclamations of poor, trembling clay as the chosen vessels for this light. Therefore we must cry mightily for boldness, not the blustering insolence of the flesh, but that holy, unflinching fidelity which counts chains as decorations and sees the ambassador’s dignity even in a prison.

Let us then come boldly to the Throne of Grace for this very supply, for the throne is occupied by the God who hears prayer. He who sits upon the hills of immutable sovereignty and in the valleys of our hourly need is the same God. He shall give the Spirit to those who ask, and the Spirit’s indwelling always inclines the heart to pray for what God has already purposed to give. This prayer upon your lips and upon ours for utterance, for the sake of the whole church, is the shadow cast by a coming blessing. The church is the pillar and ground of the truth, not because she invents it, but because she holds it forth. She holds it forth only as her members open their mouths with that heavenly unction which makes the word to be in power, not in the wisdom of words, but in the demonstration of the Spirit. As we have asked, so let us take. Having put on the armor, stand. Having stood, speak, for the great proclamation from the King of kings is yet in force: “Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel.” The silver trumpet still sounds, “Come, and welcome, Sinner, come,” and we are sent to lift it to our lips with holy courage.

You do well to arm yourselves first, for the Captain of our warfare is God Himself, and our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against those incorporeal powers of darkness. The armor He provides is not forged in earthly smithies, but wrought of truth and righteousness and faith, and the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. Observe how the Apostle bids you stand, and stand, and stand again: there is no discharge in this war, and the breastplate of righteousness must be worn continually, not laid aside when you please. He who stands correctly, feet shod with the preparation of the gospel, loins girt about with truth, the helmet of salvation upon his head, that man will leap into the midst of the enemy like a lion, for the righteous are bold as a lion.

You mention the example of Christ, who first overcame the tempter alone in the wilderness for His own sake before He overcame for the world. So too must you receive the Spirit’s oxygen upon your own face, and then turn to strengthen the brethren. When you have taken up the shield of faith, with which you shall quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one, then pray for all the saints, and ask that utterance may be given to open your mouth boldly. For what are those beautiful feet, if not the ones that run to publish peace, peace between God and man, where God has wrought all?

But see that you do not rely on your own skill; the power belongs to the Commander. It is God who gives the increase, whether for the soil or the soul. As the Prophet says, “Put on the armor of light,” and lay aside every filthy garment. Only do not let the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, be sheathed in idleness. Use it in prayer, in admonition, in the rebuking of sin. And let your companions in this warfare be not those who flatter, but the poor and free who will help you govern your household and track out strangers to clothe and feed. By this spiritual traffic you will store up profits that please God.

Remember, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit equip you for this constant advance. Stand therefore, having done all, and having your feet shod, not with the business of this life, but with the readiness of the gospel. So shall you be able to withstand in the evil day, and having overcome, to help others take their stand.

Your prayer reflects a deep desire to stand firm in the power of God, and that is exactly where victory begins. But the power you are calling on is not something you generate by the intensity of your prayer or the precision of your words. It is the power of the Lord, accessed entirely through the grace in which you already stand. So as you put on the armor, remember that every piece is yours because of what Jesus has done, not because of what you do.

The belt of truth is the gospel itself: that you are justified freely by faith in Christ, apart from works. The breastplate of righteousness is not your own imperfect obedience, but the perfect righteousness God credits to you when you trust in His Son. That standing before Him is complete; you cannot add to it. So when the enemy accuses or schemes, you resist him firmly by faith, not by measuring your performance. You stand in Jesus alone.

The shield of faith extinguishes all the flaming arrows because faith lays hold of what God has promised and what He has already accomplished. It is not faith in your faith, but faith in a faithful God. And that faith, like Abraham’s, is accounted as righteousness. It may be tested, and God may use trials to prove and refine it, but the testing is not to expose your weakness to Him, He already knows, but to show you the genuine quality of what He has given. Whether you are delivered from a battle or sustained through it, your faith honors Him, and He upholds you.

You mentioned the urgency of first securing the mask on yourself before assisting others, and that is wise. But the “mask” is the full assurance that you are saved by grace, kept by the power of God, and called with a holy calling not according to your works. When you are settled in that, you can then pray with all perseverance for all the saints, not out of anxiety but out of the overflow of a heart at rest. You then can open your mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, the very mystery that the law could never justify, but that righteousness comes to all who simply believe. That is the message the world needs, and the boldness to speak it is itself a gift of the Spirit, not a striving of the flesh.

So as you pray through Ephesians 6, do it with your feet already shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. You have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. That peace makes you immovable. The helmet of salvation is not a hope that you might be saved if you endure long enough; it is the confident knowledge that you are saved, kept by the Holy Spirit who dwells in you. And the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, wields its sharpest edge when it declares, “The just shall live by faith.”

Stand fast, then, in the liberty where Christ has set you free. Do not let the enemy entangle you again in any yoke of bondage, whether fear, condemnation, or a subtle belief that your standing depends on your latest victory. You are complete in Him. And from that place of unshakable grace, pray for all the saints, even those in chains, that utterance may be given. God is no respecter of persons; every believer has the same righteousness, the same Spirit, and the same commission. Your prayers matter. Your faith is precious.

Go now in the grace of God, armed and at peace, knowing that He who called you is faithful, and He will do it.
