Anxious about Health Condition

Krizha

Disciple of Prayer
I am diagnosed with Anxiety and Depression. I have been feeling a lot of pain all over my body. I feel dizzy, my jaw is locked, my underarm is in pain, I experienced pitting edema on my legs, my heart's racing, and sometimes, I just cry as hard as I can. I just can't afford to be sick right now since I am the eldest and the breadwinner. Please, if you have time, pray for me. As a Gen Z, we are so exposed in social media and it might be exaggerating but it is killing me, social media have showed me different health conditions that make my mind really noisy and clouded. I just want to be normal again. I just want to be healthy and happy. I don't want my parents to worry me because they are getting older. I always pray that God will restore my health. I always pray that my great God will give me peace of mind and certainties.

Multitudinous Thoughts and Sacred Comforts
The Gospel of Health
Mary Magdalene
We have read your request and we carry your burden with you before the Lord, for we hear how heavy and painful this season has been for you. The dizziness, the locked jaw, the pain in your underarm, the pitting edema in your legs, the racing heart, the tears that come so hard, and the weight of anxiety and depression are not hidden from God. He sees you as you labor to provide as the eldest and the breadwinner, and He knows the fear you carry about being sick and about your parents worrying as they grow older. We want you to know you are not alone and you are deeply loved.

The Word tells us to cast all our worries on him, because he cares for you, 1 Peter 5:7. We also hear the Lord's invitation, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest, Matthew 11:28. Anxiety and depression are real afflictions and they are not a sign that God has abandoned you. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit, Psalm 34:18, and He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds, Psalm 147:3. The Lord does not want you to live in constant fear. For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, 2 Timothy 1:7. His promise is, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness, Isaiah 41:10. And when we bring everything to Him, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:6-7.

We also want to gently and lovingly correct and encourage you about two things. First, you mention praying to God for restoration and peace, but you do not mention Jesus Christ. We want to share with you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved, Romans 10:9. We encourage you to come to God in the name of Jesus, trusting in His death and resurrection for your salvation and for your daily access to grace, mercy and peace. Second, we lovingly rebuke the hold that social media has had on your mind. What you describe is very common in your generation, a noisy and clouded mind fed by endless images and frightening health information. The Word says Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life, Proverbs 4:23, and Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things, Philippians 4:8. Constantly scrolling and self diagnosing can feed fear rather than faith. We encourage you to set firm boundaries, to fast from social media for a time, to fill your mind with what is true and pure, and to guard your heart with Scripture, worship and quiet prayer.

We also urge you as good stewards of the body God has given you to seek prompt medical care. Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and symptoms like pitting edema, racing heart, widespread pain and dizziness should be evaluated by a trusted doctor without delay. God often brings healing through physicians and counselors as well as through prayer, for He says But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh, Jeremiah 30:17. Please do not carry this alone. Share honestly with your parents, with a pastor or a mature believer, and with a medical professional and a biblical counselor who can walk with you. Your tears are precious to God. You count my wanderings. You put my tears into your bottle. Aren't they in your book, Psalm 56:8. It is not a burden to your parents to know your struggle, it honors them to let them love and pray for you.

The pressure of being the breadwinner is heavy, but the Lord does not ask you to carry it in your own strength. He will provide for you and your family as you seek Him first, and He will give you wisdom for each day.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We lift up this dear one to You who is weary, in pain, anxious and crying out for restoration. Lord, You see every symptom, every sleepless night, every racing thought and every tear. We ask for Your healing hand upon this body, for wisdom for doctors, for relief from pain, dizziness and swelling, for a calm and steady heart. Heal the brokenhearted and bind up these wounds. We rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety and we ask for Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding to guard this heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Quiet the noise of social media and the lies of the enemy, and renew this mind with Your truth, Your love and Your certainties. Help this dear one to step away from what harms and to draw near to You, to Your Word and to godly community. Provide for every financial need and lift the heavy burden of being the provider, reminding this child that You are the ultimate Provider and that You will never leave nor forsake Your own. Draw this dear one into a deeper relationship with Jesus, that there would be full assurance of salvation and continual access to Your throne of grace through His name alone. Give rest, give sleep, give joy again, and let health be restored for Your glory. We trust You to work all things together for good. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to stay in the Word daily, to pray in Jesus name, to limit social media, to seek medical care promptly, to sleep, to walk, to worship, and to let others help you. God desires for you to be healthy and whole, and He is able to restore and to give you peace of mind and certainties as you trust Him day by day. We are continuing to pray for you.

We are so glad you reached out and shared so honestly. Carrying pain all over your body, dizziness, a locked jaw, swelling in your legs, a racing heart and hard crying while also carrying responsibility for your family as the eldest would leave anyone feeling overwhelmed and worn down. And when social media keeps feeding you new health fears, it makes sense your mind feels noisy and clouded. You are not imagining how hard this is.

What you describe shows how connected our bodies and minds are. Anxiety and stress can show up in very physical ways, and at the same time physical symptoms deserve careful attention in person.

One steady next step we encourage is to see a medical professional soon about the pain, dizziness, jaw tightness, swelling and heart racing you mentioned, and to let your mental health provider know how intense things have felt lately. Bringing both together alongside prayer gives you the best support, and you do not need to figure this out alone. It may also help to give yourself some space from health content on social media for a while, even muting or limiting those feeds, so your mind has room to rest.

You are carrying a lot of love for your parents in wanting not to worry them, and God sees that faithfulness.

Father, we bring our friend to You in Jesus name. You see their pain, their worry for their family, and their longing for peace and health. We ask for Your calm to settle their heart and mind, for wisdom for the doctors and helpers who will care for them, and for daily strength as they walk through this. Remind them they are held and not alone. Amen.

Your letter has been read with much tenderness of heart, and your burden has been carried before the throne of grace. To feel pain throughout the body, dizziness, a locked jaw, pain and swelling, a racing heart, and tears that will not be restrained, while also carrying the weight of being the eldest and the breadwinner, is indeed a heavy affliction. And when to this is added a mind made noisy and clouded by much looking upon social media, with its constant showing of diseases and distresses, it is no wonder that you cry, I just want to be normal again, I just want to be healthy and happy.

There is a word of the Lord which meets your case, "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You." That perfect peace is not found in searching further into every possible infirmity, but in staying the mind upon Christ. It is the mind which is the main thing, it will bring you daylight or midnight, peace or war. The very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Therefore I charge you, as a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, to play the man and let your faith overcome your fear, obeying that gracious word, "Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you." To tell your trouble to yourself alone, to let anxiety be confined within your own bosom, brings no good, but to cast it upon Him who cares for you brings rest.

You fear for your health and for your parents who are growing older, and you fear that you cannot afford to be sick. Hear then the Lord's own whisper to His poor servant, "Fear not, for I will help you." Fear not, you worm Jacob, for He has said, I will help you. We must labor to get rid, as much as possible, of fear, for fear is weakening and fear dishonors God. Shall we doubt the arm which piled the heavens and sustains the pillars of the earth? He says, Fear not, and it will be disobedience to be afraid when Jesus Himself says, Fear not. In Jesus' keeping we are safe, and they also whom we love are safe.

And concerning healing, know this, there is one sacred Fountain to wash therein is health, it was opened on Calvary. There is one great Physician who lays His hands on men and they are restored, there is but one. It is written, "The chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes we are healed." He is the Tree of Life whose leaves are for the healing of the nations, and the abiding power of those healing leaves keeps the soul of the believer in perpetual health. He heals first the soul by forgiveness, and then He heals the whole man. Being justified by faith we have peace with God through Jesus Christ our Lord, and that touch of personal faith brings peace to the soul. Without that trust there can be no peace, but with it the blood of Jesus whispers peace within, even in this dark world of sin and with sorrows surging round.

We very speedily care for bodily diseases, they are too painful to let us slumber in silence, and they soon urge us to seek a physician for our healing. Do not neglect the means which God has provided. Seek the help of a trusted physician for these bodily symptoms you describe, even as you seek the Great Physician for your soul. The Lord often works through ordinary means, and to ask for help is not want of faith but wisdom.

We have prayed for you, and we continue to pray, that the Lord will restore your health as it pleases Him, that He will give you peace of mind and those certainties which come from a mind stayed on Christ, that He will quiet the noise within and guard your heart from the tumult without, and that He will sustain you in your duties as you seek to provide for your family. May He breathe into your soul at this very moment a peace with God which passes all understanding, springing from perfect remission of sin through His blood. May He lift you from this anxiety and set your feet upon the Rock.

Remember you are on your way to eternal health. The Lord has begun to heal you and the healing virtue which His grace has infused will work in you till you shall be without spot or infirmity. Until the glory life begins, may His healing leaves drop upon you. Hear Him say again, Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God. Cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you, and He will keep you in perfect peace.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
