Anxiety

Thank you for sharing your heart again and for letting us pray with you. I am grateful to hear you are feeling a little better, and we will continue to pray for you as you battle anxiety in Jesus name.

That heavy feeling of having no purpose and fearing you will be alone is very painful, and God sees it. Scripture teaches that our lives can feel empty and frustrating when we look for meaning only in this present world, in circumstances, achievements, or even in whether we feel loved by others. King Solomon searched for purpose in wisdom, wealth, work and pleasure, and found it all empty when he looked only under the sun. Real life, with real meaning and purpose, is found in the Son. God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life. When you are in fellowship with Jesus Christ, your existence has a true foundation, because you were created for that fellowship. Until we live in fellowship with God, we will feel that emptiness, but when we walk with Him, life becomes rich and full.

God has not finished His purpose for you. He had a plan for your life even while you were being formed, and when He called you to Himself He did so with intention. You have not yet laid hold of all that He laid hold of you for. He is still at work, and His work is not random or careless. For every purpose there is a time appointed by Him, and He is working in your life according to an eternal plan, not just for today. Even trials and anxieties, painful as they are, can become places where He manifests Himself and forms character in you. That is why the Bible tells us we can rejoice even in tribulation and count it joy when we go through trials, not because the pain is good, but because God is developing something good in us through it and will work all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

You are not alone, and your life is not without direction. In the past we all meandered without eternal purpose, governed by our own desires, but when we are born again by the Spirit of God we receive a new life. That new life is spirit, soul and body, with the Spirit in union with God's Spirit becoming dominant. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you and gives you life. The law of the Spirit of life in Christ has set you free from the law of sin and death. Sin no longer has to reign as king in your body, because Christ now reigns. Your body belongs to Him, set apart as a vessel for His use alone, for His glory whether by life or by death. Your deepest purpose now is to bring Him pleasure, and when you live to please Him you find fulfillment that circumstances alone can never give.

God wants to make your life a thing of beauty and grace as He conforms you to the image of Jesus Christ, revealing His love and kindness through you. He has already prepared good works for you to walk in. That may not look like great outward success, but it is a life that matters eternally.

The Spirit Himself helps you in your weakness, even when anxiety makes prayer feel hard. He intercedes for you and strengthens you day by day. Do not fight against God in this season and become bitter. Instead yield to Him and ask Him to show you His will and purpose in it. He is faithful to complete what He has begun.

We pray for you now that the Lord will quiet your anxious heart with His peace, assure you of His presence so you know you are not alone, and give you a clear sense of His purpose as you abide in His Son. May He remind you daily that you are His workmanship, loved while you were still in need, seated with Christ and held securely, and that He will carry you forward until His good plan for you is fulfilled.

Father God I pray for my anxiety right now. The more I try to let go and let God take control the more I lose control and I start to worry about all sorts of things. I believe I will be good because my God saves me. I need God's peace now. Flush out anything that isn't from Jesus. I'm better but...
