I hear the weight of what you are carrying, that terrible anxiety that grips your heart, and your deep longing for peace and protection over your family. Thank you for reaching out honestly. Let me speak to what you are walking through.

You mentioned that you are working on letting go and trusting God, and that is the very key. So often we try to manufacture peace through our own efforts, through white-knuckled resolve, but that never settles the storm inside. Real peace never begins with our grip; it begins with receiving what we could never earn. Before we can know the peace of God, we must first experience the grace of God through Jesus Christ. Many people have a kind of ceasefire with God, knowing their sins are forgiven, yet their hearts remain in turmoil because they are still living as if everything depends on them. It is possible to have peace with God through the cross and still not have the peace of God ruling in your heart. That deeper peace comes when you stop striving and rest your entire case in His hands.

You asked for protection. When we trust in our own resources, our plans, or even our ability to overcome anxiety, we lean on flesh that will fail. But when you place your family and your own mind under His care, you are leaning on a rock that cannot be moved. He is wise. He is in control. He has not abdicated His throne. If you have surrendered your life to Him, you can believe that He is able to take care of you and those you love. The battle does not belong to you, and your strength in this moment may simply be to sit still and trust Him.

When anxious thoughts flood in, the answer is to factor God back into the equation. Hope in God. Bring Him into the impossible-looking situation, and suddenly you begin to see His provision. He is not asking you to fix yourself. He is inviting you to let Him work in you, because it is God who works in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure. He does for us what we cannot do for ourselves. Your letting go is not passivity; it is active trust, a moment-by-moment turning of your mind back to Him.

The promise stands: "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You." Keep your eyes on Jesus. Not on the what-ifs. Not on the waves. Not on the terrible headlines. Whenever you feel that surge of anxiety, let it be a signal to turn your heart and declare, "Lord, I trust You. This is in Your hands." That is the path to the peace that passes human understanding.

I am praying now for you and your family, that God’s covering protection would be real and tangible, and that you would know that deep, abiding peace that only He can give. He has ordained peace for you, and He will faithfully complete the work He has begun. Rest in that grace.
