please pray for my son ### today as he gives his speech today in speech class. He has horrible anxiety and is very anxious. Please pray for peace to come over him as he gives his speech.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your son as he faces this moment of anxiety. The weight of fear can feel overwhelming, especially when standing before others, but we know that God’s peace is greater than any storm. The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:6-7, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."

Heavenly Father, we ask You to cover this young man with Your perfect peace as he steps forward to speak. Calm his racing heart, steady his voice, and quiet the lies of fear that seek to paralyze him. Remind him that he is not alone, You are with him, guiding his words and strengthening his spirit. Let him feel Your presence in a tangible way, knowing that You have not given him a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). May he speak with confidence, not in his own strength, but in the assurance that You are his refuge and fortress.

We also pray for wisdom for his teachers and classmates, that they would respond with kindness and encouragement, creating an atmosphere where he feels safe and valued. Lord, if there are deeper roots to this anxiety, we ask that You would bring healing and freedom to his heart. Help him to cast all his cares upon You, for You care for him (1 Peter 5:7).

Father, we rebuke the spirit of fear in Jesus’ name, declaring that it has no hold over him. We speak courage, clarity, and calm over him, trusting that You will work all things together for his good (Romans 8:28). Thank You for hearing our prayer and for being a God who is near to the brokenhearted.

May your son feel the weight of this prayer lifting him up today. Encourage him to lean on the Lord, not just in this moment, but in every trial. If he does not yet know Jesus as his Savior, we pray that this experience would draw him closer to the One who offers true peace. For it is in Jesus’ name alone that we find strength, and it is through His sacrifice that we have access to the Father. Would you consider sharing with him the hope found in John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful"? This is the peace that can carry him through every anxious moment.

We’re praying with you for your son today. The knot in the stomach before a speech is something so many of us know, it doesn’t mean he’s weak, just that he cares about doing well. That alone is a good thing.

When the moment arrives, you might remind him of one simple step: before he walks to the front, take three slow, deep breaths. In through the nose for four counts, out through the mouth for six. It tells the body, I’m safe right now, and often clears the fog enough for the first words to come out steady. The hardest part is almost always the first thirty seconds, then the tightness starts to loosen, and he finds his rhythm.

Beyond that, we’re simply asking the Lord to be near him in a way he can feel. Not necessarily to make the anxiety vanish, but to help him speak through it, and to know afterward that he was brave. That’s a real win, no matter how smooth it sounded. A lot of kids in that class will be cheering for him silently, because they feel the same thing.

Let’s pray:

Lord Jesus, be with this son right now. Quiet his racing thoughts and settle his body. Give him a clear mind and enough peace to focus on what he’s prepared to say, not on what could go wrong. Wrap him in your presence so he knows he is not alone up there. And thank you that you care about every part of our lives, even a classroom speech. Amen.

The very anxiety which arises through being in a difficulty unfits one to meet that difficulty. This truth must be laid hold of for your son this day. He is pressed by a thronging duty, yet listen to the promise: "To do the will of Jesus, this is rest." If he has committed his way to the Lord, then the speech he gives is not merely an academic exercise; it becomes part of his Master's service. There is a holy vocation in opening one's mouth, even in a classroom, and he who diligently discharges this finds his mind actively exercised, yet sustained.

And so the command comes, absolute and unqualified: "Fear not." It is not a suggestion to fear only a little, but a clear word from the throne, "Fear not; I will help you." Why should he fear? Fear is weakening; it dishonors the God who piles the heavens and sustains the pillars of the earth. Shall the arm of Omnipotence be palsied in a speech class? Nay, doubt is traitorous. Let him hear the whisper of Jesus Himself, for it is the Master who says, "Fear not," and it would be disobedience to persist in it.

Yet you ask for peace. Perfect peace is a present possession for the mind stayed on Him. "With sorrows surging round? On Jesus' bosom nothing but calm is found." The surging sorrow this morning is a trembling heart and a dry mouth, a rush of dread before classmates. But there is a bosom where calm is found, and the blood of Jesus whispers peace within. That peace gleams with a heavenly light even in the midnight of this world's care. Let your son lean his whole weight there.

He is called to speak. Remind him that faith has its own compulsion: "We believe, and therefore we speak." The man who believes may not always weigh his words coolly, but his conviction must come out. What a high view to take of a speech! If his mind is stayed on his Redeemer, he is not merely reciting before men; he is a witness. Let him ask for wisdom and prudence, for there is a knack in speaking for Christ, but let him not put off this opportunity. Give him that precious verse: "Fear not, thou worm Jacob; I will help thee, saith the Lord." Then why should he fear? He has no other friend like He in earth or Heaven. Return, O anxious soul, unto your rest.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
