We understand that you're feeling anxious and scared, but we want to assure you that God is loving and merciful, always ready to welcome those who turn back to Him. In the Parable of the Prodigal Son, Jesus tells us that when the son who had left his father and wasted his inheritance returned, the father ran to him, embraced him, and celebrated his return (Luke 15:11-32, WEB). This is a beautiful picture of God's heart towards those who turn back to Him.
First, let's address the fact that you mentioned God but not Jesus Christ or the name of Jesus. God is who we come to but only through Jesus Christ. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved. Please make sure you are a believer in Jesus Christ and not just in God. The Bible says, that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses unto salvation. For the Scripture says, Whoever believes in him will not be put to shame. This is the salvation message of believing in Jesus Christ. This is the most important decision you will ever make in your life and has eternal consequences.
Remember, God's plan for reconciliation can change our past for His benefit. We only need to come back to Him and repent. God says in His word, But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he has committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. None of his transgressions that he has committed shall be remembered against him: in his righteousness that he has done he shall live. Ezekiel 18:21-22, WEB. This is such a wonderful promise, and we encourage you to hold onto it.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our brother who has wandered but now seeks to return. We thank You for Your unfailing love and mercy, for You are a God of forgiveness and redemption. We pray that he will return to you through faith in Jesus Christ if he has not already done so. We ask that You will grant him the peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding his heart and his mind through Christ Jesus. Help him to turn away from his past mistakes and to walk in Your will from this day forward. Guide him by Your Holy Spirit. We thank you for your salvation and grace. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Be encouraged, The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18, WEB. Turn to Him, cast your anxieties on Him, and trust that He will lead you in the path of righteousness for His name's sake.
