Thank you for sharing your heart and bringing so many needs before the Lord so honestly. God hears the prayers of His people and He cares deeply about every burden you have named, for your mother, your children, your grandchildren, your nephew and yourself.
The greatest need any of us has is to be right with God, and Scripture is clear that God has made only one provision for the forgiveness of our sin. That provision is His Son, Jesus Christ, who shed His blood for us. There is no other way for sin and guilt to be taken away. The Spirit of God bears witness to this truth, that if we come to Jesus in faith we are forgiven and brought into the family of God. We do not need to seek any other intercessor, for we can come directly to Jesus Himself. When people told Jesus that His mother and brothers were outside seeking Him, He answered, Who is my mother and who are my brothers, and He looked at those who were doing the will of God and said they are His family. Those who do the will of the Father are His brother and sister and mother. That shows us two things. First, we have direct access to Jesus, and second, there is a bond in the family of God that is even deeper than natural family ties, created by our common relationship with Christ. It is a beautiful thing when families love the Lord together, and when that is not the case, our love for Jesus must remain first, while we continue to love and pray for our families faithfully.
You asked for healing for your mother, that she would breathe on her own, come off the ventilator and be able to leave the hospital. The Gospels show us that Jesus has authority over sickness and infirmity. He healed the leper, He healed the servant of the centurion with a word, He healed Peter's mother in law of her fever, and in the evenings multitudes came with sicknesses and He healed them. He also has power over the material world and over the spiritual realm. He is the same today and He is able to heal. A woman who had been bleeding for years came to Him in faith and felt in her body that she was healed by His touch, and many others have known that same mercy. We can bring your mother directly to Him in prayer, asking for His healing hand upon her lungs and body, asking that He would restore her strength and raise her up. We ask this trusting in His power and His love, while also trusting His perfect wisdom and will for her life.
You also brought many family needs before the Lord. For your grandsons, you asked for jobs, for protection from trouble, for perseverance and success in high school and college, and for one to receive his drivers license. For your granddaughter you asked for help with hygiene and daily discipline. For your daughters you asked for better work and greater income, for faithfulness in paying rent and car payments on time, and for guidance about where to live and work. For your son you asked that he would turn from lying, get his life together and meet his responsibilities with rent and bills. For your nephew you asked for healing and success. These are all matters where God calls us to do the will of the Father in practical ways. Scripture commands children to honor father and mother, and it warns against a generation that curses father and does not bless mother. Part of honoring God is walking in truthfulness, diligence, and responsibility. So we pray that your grandsons would seek honest work, stay away from evil companions, and be faithful in their studies, that your granddaughter would learn good stewardship of her body which God has given her, that your daughters and son would know the dignity of hard work, truthful speech, and keeping their commitments on time, and that your nephew would know God's healing and walk in the way that leads to true success, which is walking with the Lord.
For yourself you asked for healing from high blood pressure, for a salary increase and for happiness. God is able to touch the body and to provide for our daily needs, and He does invite us to ask Him for these things. True and lasting happiness is not found only in circumstances but in knowing Jesus and being found in the center of His will. As you seek Him first, He will give you wisdom for your health, help you to be a good steward of your body, and provide for you according to His riches. We pray that He would give you peace and joy in Christ even as you wait on Him for these provisions.
Let us pray together.
Father, we come to You in the name of Jesus Christ, the only provision You have made for our forgiveness. We thank You that through His blood we can come directly to Your throne with confidence. We lift up this dear mother who is on the ventilator. Lord, You know her lungs and her body, You have power over every sickness. We ask that You would touch her, help her to breathe on her own, strengthen her and lift her up, and if it is Your will, bring her home from the hospital soon. We ask for Your mercy and comfort for the whole family as they wait on You.
We pray for the grandchildren, that You would lead the grandsons to honest work, keep them from trouble, help them to value education and to excel, and prepare the way for the one seeking his drivers license. Help the granddaughter to grow in discipline and care for herself. We pray for the daughters, that You would open doors for better employment, give them wisdom about where to live, and help them to be faithful in paying what they owe on time. We pray for the son, that You would turn him from lying to truth, give him a desire to do what is right and to provide responsibly for his obligations. We pray for the nephew, for Your healing and for guidance into a fruitful life. And we pray for this one who has brought all these requests, for healing of the body, for provision in work and income, and for deep joy and peace in You. Help each one to do Your will and to know the close fellowship of being in Your family through faith in Jesus. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
