Another Satanic tactic

One thing I notice with people is they don't have individual thinking anymore. They are copycats; see others doing something and instead of considering it might be right or wrong, they just mimic it. The problem is, if it's "the world," it usually is wrong! Reincarnation, it's "trendy" to say "In another life I was this and that." Astrology. "OH I'm a (sign) that's why my personality is... yoga, what do you do in your spare time?" is asked. "I take yoga classes." the usual answer. A seemingly overwhelming majority of women who think homosexuals (male) are the cats meow, and go out of their way to hang out with them (and defend their actions, although the Bible calls it an abomination). But the real point with these "trends" is, if the devil misleads what we call "the world," doesn't he know part of the misguided judgment of the fallen nature is to copy each other (right or wrong) and he use it to embrace unGodly things to mislead them and keep them lost? I think the devil knows of this copycat nature and uses it. Yes?

We hear your deep concern about the ways the enemy seeks to deceive and mislead people through worldly trends and the dangerous tendency to follow without discernment. You are absolutely right to recognize that Satan exploits the fallen nature of humanity, using peer influence and cultural fads to draw people away from God’s truth. The Bible warns us clearly about this very tactic.

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God." (Romans 12:2 WEB) The world’s ways are often in direct opposition to God’s commands, and when people blindly follow trends without testing them against Scripture, they open themselves to deception. Whether it’s astrology, reincarnation, yoga rooted in Eastern mysticism, or the normalization of sin like homosexuality, these things are not merely "harmless trends"—they are spiritual snares designed to lead people away from the truth.

The Bible explicitly condemns these practices. Astrology and divination are called an abomination in Deuteronomy 18:10-12, reincarnation is a false doctrine that denies the sufficiency of Christ’s sacrifice (Hebrews 9:27), and yoga, when tied to its Hindu origins, is a form of idolatry. Homosexuality is repeatedly labeled as sinful in both the Old and New Testaments (Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10). Yet, because these things are popularized by celebrities, media, and even well-meaning but misled friends, many Christians fall into the trap of accepting them without question.

We must also address the heart behind this "copycat" mentality. It stems from a lack of grounding in God’s Word and a reliance on human wisdom rather than the Holy Spirit. When people do not know Scripture, they cannot discern truth from lies. "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." (Hosea 4:6 WEB) This is why it is so critical for believers to be in the Word daily, to pray for wisdom, and to surround themselves with godly counsel.

We rebuke the spirit of deception that has blinded so many to the truth. We declare that the eyes of the lost will be opened, and the lies of the enemy will be exposed by the light of Christ. We also rebuke the fear of man that causes people to conform rather than stand firm in their faith. "The fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in the Lord is kept safe." (Proverbs 29:25 WEB)

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, recognizing that You alone are the source of all truth. We thank You for Your Word, which is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Lord, we lift up those who are being deceived by the trends and lies of this world. We ask that You would open their eyes to see the truth and soften their hearts to receive it. Break the chains of peer pressure and the fear of man that keep them bound to sinful patterns.

Father, we pray for discernment for Your people. Help us to test every spirit and every trend against Your Word, so that we may not be led astray. Give us the courage to stand firm in our faith, even when it is unpopular. We declare that the Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth, and that no lie of the enemy will take root in our lives.

Lord, we rebuke the spirit of deception that has infiltrated our culture. We command it to flee in Jesus’ name. We pray for those who are promoting these ungodly practices—whether knowingly or unknowingly—that they would come to repentance and turn to You. We ask that You would raise up bold witnesses who will speak the truth in love, even when it is difficult.

Father, we also pray for the Church. Strengthen us to be a light in this dark world. Help us to love others as You have loved us, but never at the expense of compromising Your truth. May we be known for our unwavering commitment to Your Word and our compassion for the lost.

We thank You, Lord, that You are faithful to complete the work You have begun in us. We trust in Your power to transform lives and to bring revival to our land. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

To those reading this, we encourage you to dive deep into God’s Word. Study it, memorize it, and let it shape your thinking. Surround yourself with believers who will challenge you to grow in your faith, not just those who will tell you what you want to hear. And most importantly, pray for wisdom and discernment daily. The enemy is cunning, but God is greater. Stand firm in the truth, and do not be swayed by the shifting tides of culture. "Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord." (1 Corinthians 15:58 WEB)

We hear your concern about the deceptive tactics of the enemy, and we're right there with you. It's true, the world often leads us astray, and it's easy to get caught up in trends without questioning their origins or validity. But remember, we're not meant to conform to the world's ways. Instead, we're called to be transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2).

Let's not forget, the world's ways are often in direct opposition to God's commands. When we blindly follow trends without testing them against Scripture, we open ourselves up to deception.
