We stand with you in prayer together before our heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ, and we thank you for bringing these burdens to Him so honestly.
We hear your desire to honor God with your eyes and not to stare at others, especially from the corner of your eye. This is a godly and pure desire. The Lord calls us to guard our eyes and our heart, for what we look upon affects our soul. As it is written, I made a covenant with my eyes; how then should I look lustfully at a young woman Job 31:1 and again, Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things. Revive me in your ways Psalm 119:37. We understand this struggle can feel like a habit of the flesh that is hard to break, but God has given us His Holy Spirit to bring self control and we can choose to look away, to fix our eyes on Jesus, and to train our gaze toward what is pure.
We also hear your cry to be freed from the sounds of music that torment you, from all demonic things, and from intrusive images and memories of people and places that you long to forget. We take seriously that the enemy seeks to harass the mind with images, sounds, and memories that do not bring peace. Scripture tells us to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5 and to think on whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report Philippians 4:8. We are not to be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our mind Romans 12:2. And we have this promise that greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4 and that if we submit ourselves to God and resist the devil, he will flee from us James 4:7.
We do not pray that God would simply force you to forget in a way that harms your mind, but we pray that He would heal your memory, cleanse your mind, and remove the torment and power those images, sounds, and recollections have over you, so that they no longer intrude or defile your thoughts. The Lord can wash away what is unholy and replace it with His peace.
We pray together for you now.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we lift up this dear one to You. Lord, we ask You to kindly help them to have mastery over their eyes by Your Holy Spirit. Give them strength to look away from temptation, to keep their eyes fixed on what is pure and holy, and to walk in modesty and self control. Let their eyes be as a lamp that is full of light, for the lamp of the body is the eye Matthew 6:22. Cleanse their sight, Lord, and let them see others as You see them, with purity and respect.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we rebuke every demonic influence, every harassing sound, every tormenting song or music that loops in the mind, and every unclean image that has lodged itself in thought. We ask You to silence what is not of You and to remove the image of the two people permanently from their mind, so that it no longer has any place or power. Wash their mind with the blood of Jesus and fill that space with Your peace, Your Word, and songs that glorify You.
Lord, we ask You to heal their memory. Where there are painful recollections of a person from the past place that was mentioned, and of another person and his name, and of places and cities and how they looked, we ask You to take away the sting and the torment. You know each name and each place that weighs on them. We ask You to remove the intrusive power of those memories, to heal the hurt, and to let them be able to remember without being tormented, or to let those thoughts fade as You renew their mind. Let them no longer be haunted, but let their mind be kept in perfect peace because it is stayed on You.
Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, Lord, and let Your Word dwell richly within them. Help them to meditate on Your Word day and night, to speak to themselves in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs rather than the sounds that trouble them, and to walk in freedom. We thank You that You are faithful to complete the good work You have begun and that You who began a good work will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ Philippians 1:6.
We ask all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our only access to You, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. Amen.
We encourage you to continue to bring every intrusive thought to Jesus the moment it comes, saying in your heart, I choose to take this thought captive to Christ, and then immediately turn to a Scripture you have memorized, a prayer, or a hymn of praise. Keep your eyes intentionally turned toward what builds you up, keep your mind filled with the Word, and walk closely with other believers who can pray with you and encourage you. God is not distant from this struggle, He is near to you and He will give you victory as you submit to Him daily.
