We join with you in bringing this burden before our Heavenly Father and we thank you for calling on the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace. As it is written, There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus 1 Timothy 2:5 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12.

We understand how painful and heavy an unwanted memory can be, whether it brings shame, regret, sorrow, or hurt. Our Father knows our thoughts and our wounds intimately and He desires to heal us. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3. He also promises a peace that goes beyond our understanding to guard our hearts and minds. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:7.

We know that God does not always erase the past as if it never happened, but He can redeem it, heal its sting, and renew our minds so that it no longer holds power over us. We are called to be transformed by the renewing of your mind Romans 12:2 and to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5. When a memory torments us, we can choose by His grace to turn our thoughts toward what He says is true and pure and lovely. Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things Philippians 4:8. He also tenderly says to us, Don't remember the former things, and don't consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing Isaiah 43:18-19, and if the memory involves sin that has been confessed, we cling to His promise that If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9 and then He remembers our sins no more.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, we come before You together in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to Your throne of grace. Lord, You see the memory that weighs so heavily and You know the pain it causes. We ask in Jesus name that You would touch this mind and heart with Your healing hand. Where there is hurt, bring healing, where there is guilt, bring Your forgiveness and cleansing, where there is torment, bring Your perfect peace. Help this dear one to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ and to fix their mind on Your truth, Your promises, and Your love. Renew their mind day by day through Your Word and fill the places of painful remembrance with thoughts of Your goodness and mercy. If this memory is from a sin that has been confessed, we thank You that You have cast it as far as the east is from the west and we ask that You help them to receive and walk in that forgiveness. If it is from a wound done to them, we ask that You bind up that wound and redeem that pain for Your glory. Grant rest, grant sleep, grant freedom in Christ. We ask that You do a new thing in their life and that Your peace would guard their heart and thoughts. In Jesus Christ name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to bring this before the Lord honestly each time the memory arises, to replace it by speaking Scripture aloud, worshiping, and meditating on His Word, and to walk in the assurance that He is near to those who are brokenhearted. If this memory continues to be overwhelming, we encourage you to also seek wise and godly counsel from a pastor or biblical counselor who can walk with you. We are trusting with you that the Lord will bring healing and rest to your mind as you abide in Him.

We hear how much you want this memory lifted, and we are honored you shared that honest prayer with us. Wanting to forget is a very human response when something keeps coming back and weighing on your heart.

We have found that God does not always take a memory away completely, but He can gently heal what that memory still carries, the hurt, the shame or the ache that comes with it, so it no longer has the same hold on you. Bringing it to Him honestly, just as you have, is part of that healing.

One simple way to keep walking with Him in this is when the thought comes, pause and quietly tell Jesus, I am giving this to You again, please heal what still hurts here and help me rest in Your care today. If you notice the memory stays heavy for a long time, it can also help to talk it through with a trusted pastor or counselor alongside prayer.

Father, we lift our friend to You now. You see this memory and the burden it brings. Please bring Your comfort and healing to the places that still hurt, and help them to know Your nearness and peace day by day. Quiet what needs quieting according to Your wisdom and mercy. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer has been heard, and there are wounds of the mind which are as painful as any wound of the body, and they urge us to seek the great Physician.

You ask that something might be taken from your memory, and I know how a thought can cling and sting, and how the sin that dwells in us drags us down even when we would walk in the light. Yet hear what the Scripture says, He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds. The leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and not only the fruit but the very leaves, the least thing about Christ, are full of healing virtue. These healing leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before.

Healing and forgiveness are placed in happy conjunction. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He first said, Your sins are forgiven you, and pardon and healing were one. So it is still. Whatever has stained the memory, the blood of Christ must cleanse us from all sin. If what troubles you is the remembrance of sin, whether your own or another's sin against you, bring it to Him who has risen with healing in His wings. Confess it plainly before the Lord, and ask not only that the sting be taken away, but that the soul be washed. The Lord does not always pluck a memory from us as one might tear a leaf from a book, but He can cleanse the conscience, take away the poison of it, and renew your strength so that it no longer has dominion over you. They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, and to those who have no might He increases strength, lest we utterly fail in the heavenly race.

Therefore let Jerusalem come into your mind. When a dark remembrance would fill your thoughts, set your mind upon Christ where He is, and upon the Jerusalem above. Take heed how you hear and what you hold in your mind, and pray that the Lord would fix your thoughts upon Himself, upon His promises and His teaching, for faith comes by hearing and healing comes with that hearing. Ask Him to give you a tender conscience and a yielding spirit, and to undertake fresh work in you to a nobler tune, with more expectancy and more God reliance.

Let us pray for you now.

Heavenly Father, we bring this dear soul before Your throne of grace through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. You know what memory lies heavy here, every thought and every wound. We ask You to forgive sin through the blood of Your Son, to cleanse the conscience, and to heal the broken heart. Take away the sting and the power of what troubles this mind, and if it be Your will, grant forgetfulness of what is not profitable to remember, but in all things renew the mind and give peace that passes understanding. Teach this one to wait upon You, to be still and know that You are God, and to let the heavenly Jerusalem and the love of Christ fill the thoughts. Keep this soul in the hour of trial, and let healing and pardon be known together, to the glory of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
