We join you in bringing this burden before our heavenly Father and we thank you for asking in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is through Him alone that we have access to the throne of grace.
We understand the desire to have painful or troubling images and words removed from your mind, especially those three things you saw on someone's Facebook page that continue to linger. The Lord knows how our minds can hold onto things we wish we could forget, and He is compassionate toward us in that struggle.
We pray together for you now.
Father, we lift up this dear one to You in Jesus' name. You see the memories that are causing distress and the desire to be free from them. We ask that You would bring healing to this mind and heart, that You would wash away what is troubling and replace it with Your peace. Help our friend to cast every care upon You and to find rest in Your presence. Guard this heart and mind in Christ Jesus, and help them to no longer be haunted by what was seen on that page. Lead them to dwell on what is good and pure and to walk in freedom. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
We are encouraged that you brought this to God, for He invites us to do so. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. And 1 Peter 5:7 reminds us to be casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.
God does not always erase a memory as if it never happened, but He does promise to heal and renew us. Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. And Romans 12:2 says Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. He renews our minds as we turn to Him and fill our thoughts with what honors Him.
Philippians 4:8 gives us a loving direction for what to dwell on, Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things. And 2 Corinthians 10:5 teaches us about bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
If those images on Facebook are causing you to stumble or to hold onto hurt, anger, or temptation, we encourage you to take practical steps to guard your heart as well. It may be wise to step away from that page, to limit time on Facebook, or to remove what causes you to remember these things, so that your mind has space to heal. Isaiah 26:3 promises You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you; because he trusts in you.
We pray that the Lord will quiet these three memories, that their sting will be taken away, and that you will find yourself thinking less and less of that page as your mind is stayed on Christ. May He fill that space with His peace and with thoughts that build you up.
