We join you in bringing this request before our heavenly Father and we thank you for coming in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace.

We do not know what the two things are that weigh so heavily on your memory, but our Father knows them fully. We understand the desire to have painful, intrusive, or tormenting memories removed, and we bring your heart to the One who heals and restores. The Lord does not always erase our past from our minds, but He promises to heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds, Psalm 147:3, and to bring peace to our thoughts as we trust in Him.

We pray that God will bring His healing to these memories, whether they are memories of hurt done to you, sin you regret, or thoughts that keep you from peace. If these memories involve sin, we cling to His promise that as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us, Psalm 103:12, and that He will remember our sins no more, Hebrews 8:12, when we confess and turn to Him. If they are wounds from the past, we ask Him to redeem them and make you new, for He says do not remember the former things, and do not consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Isaiah 43:18-19.

We also encourage you to actively bring your thoughts under His care, for we are called to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:5, and to be transformed by the renewing of your mind, Romans 12:2. As you wait on Him to bring relief, we encourage you to fix your mind on what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely and of good report, Philippians 4:8, and to present your requests to God with thanksgiving, trusting His peace which surpasses all understanding to guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:6-7. He promises that You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you, Isaiah 26:3.

We pray together now.

Heavenly Father, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You know the two things that burden this memory and the pain they cause. We ask in Your mercy that You would remove their sting, take away their power, and heal what has been wounded. Wash away any guilt with the blood of Jesus, comfort any hurt with Your presence, and replace torment with Your perfect peace. Help our friend to take every thought captive to You and to be renewed day by day by Your Spirit and Your Word. Let Your healing and Your forgetfulness in the sense of no longer being controlled by these memories be upon them, and let them walk in the newness of life You promise. We trust Your loving will and Your perfect timing. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We hear the ache behind your short prayer. Wanting two things lifted from your memory tells us they still hurt when they come to mind, and you are asking Jesus for relief the best way you know how.

We have found God does not always erase the memory itself, but He can gently heal what the memory carries, the sting, the shame, or the sorrow, as we invite Him to be present with us in it. It is less about trying harder to forget and more about letting Christ meet us in the painful place so it loosens its hold over time. That kind of healing is usually a process, not an instant fix, and it helps to not walk through it alone.

If those two memories feel heavy or keep intruding, it may help to share them with one trusted pastor or Christian counselor who can listen and pray with you at a careful, unhurried pace. In your own quiet moments, when one surfaces, you might simply pause and ask Jesus to be with you there and to bring His comfort and perspective, even if the memory itself remains for now.

Father, we bring this heart to You. You know the two things they long to forget and the pain attached to them. Please draw near with Your peace, soften what still wounds, and show them step by step how You can redeem even painful memories. Give wisdom to know who to talk with and rest in Your tender care. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your short and sincere prayer has been heard and we join you in bringing it before the heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ.

You ask that two things might be taken from your memory, and we understand the pain that makes you ask it. The memory can hold what wounds us, and our own strength to forget or to overcome will one day fail us. Whatever our strength may be, of body, mind or spirit, if it is our own it will not hold. Sin that dwells in us drags us down, and even when we have walked in the light we still need that the blood of Christ should cleanse us from all sin. For this reason our strength must be renewed, lest we decline and fall prone in the heavenly race. To those who have no might He increases strength, and they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.

There is healing provided for such wounds. The Lord heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds. We are quick to seek a physician for the body because the pain will not let us sleep, but the wounds of the spirit are more deep and need a greater Physician. Calvary is the place for the healing balm. Not only is the fruit of Christ sweet and nourishing, but the very leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ has healing virtue. These healing leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. Pardon and healing are placed in happy conjunction. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you. First forgiveness, then healing. Seek first to be forgiven and healing will come from the pardoning hand.

We would also counsel you to pray not only that something be taken from your mind, but that something better be given to fill it. Let Jerusalem come into your mind. Let the Jerusalem above come into the mind of the believer. When painful memories linger, when aches and sorrows press, let Christ who is there come into your mind. In all earthly enjoyments, in times of bereavement and in times of sickness, let the heavenly city and Him who reigns there occupy your thoughts. Ask the Lord in renewing your strength that you may undertake fresh work and that it may be done to a nobler tune, with more expectancy, more confidence, more faith, more God reliance. What is done with self reliance fails, but what is done with God reliance endures.

We pray with you now.

Heavenly Father, look upon this soul who desires to be free from what burdens the memory. Thou knowest the two things that lie heavy and Thou knowest the pain they have caused. Forgive all sin through the blood of Jesus Christ and cleanse the conscience. Heal the broken heart and bind up the wound. If it be Thy will, take the sting from these memories, and if they must remain, take away their power to harm and renew the mind by Thy Spirit. Cause this dear one to wait upon Thee, to renew strength, and to set the mind upon Christ and the Jerusalem above where Christ is. Grant healing and pardon together, and let the leaves of the tree of life bring healing to this troubled spirit. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your brief prayer has been heard, and God knows the two things that weigh on your memory even though you have not named them.

Scripture does not promise that God simply erases the past as if it never happened, but it does promise something greater, that you may be renewed in the spirit of your mind. To be renewed is not to become a different person, but for the same person to be changed and made new by the Spirit who dwells within. When the Spirit works in the mind, old deeds and old wounds do not keep their power, because the Spirit will not let the old remain as it was.

For this reason I encourage you not only to ask that these memories be taken away, but to ask that your mind be filled with the remembrance of Him. If we always see God with our mind and keep Him in remembrance, all things become more endurable and we are lifted above what now feels heavy. When a person remembers one whom he loves he is strengthened, how much more when we continually remember the One who has loved us in deed. And when the law of God is written on the heart, like writing stamped on the soul rather than on stone, the heart becomes bright with grace and the enemy cannot easily approach.

What is painful now may be brief, while what God works through it can be lasting and profitable. As with a painful remedy, the hurt is for a season but the healing remains. Bring these two memories into the light before Him in honest confession and prayer, and keep bringing them there. Fill your mind each day with Scripture, with prayer, and with the company of faithful teaching, so that your thoughts are retrained by His word. If these memories still trouble you, seek counsel in private with a pastor or mature believer who can walk with you and help you apply the word to them.

Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, You know the two burdens this soul carries and You know every thought. We ask in the name of Jesus Christ alone, our only Savior, that You would bring healing and renewal. Wash and renew the spirit of this mind by Your Holy Spirit, take away the sting of what is remembered, and where there is sin grant forgiveness through the cross, where there is hurt grant comfort and wholeness. Write Your law and Your mercy on this heart, and help this one to remember You continually and to find peace in Your presence. Grant strength to bear what must be borne and grace to be changed into what You desire. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
