We have heard your prayer and we bring it before the Lord with you, asking that He will grant you His own peace in this burden that presses upon your mind.
You have asked that the Lord would take away certain images and memories from shows you have watched, things which now trouble you. We understand that such thoughts can be grievous and can linger, and we would point you to what the Lord has said concerning His own thoughts toward His people. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Even when trials are grievous, His thoughts toward those who are in Christ are thoughts of peace. He seeks your peace, He creates your peace, and He sustains your peace.
Remember also that His thoughts are not as our thoughts, nor His ways as our ways. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are His ways higher than our ways, and His thoughts than our thoughts. We may be perplexed by what we have seen or by what we wish could be removed, but He knows perfectly what you need, and His wisdom is far above our own. Our part is not to lean upon our own anxious thoughts, which can never lift us into peace, but to be conformed to His thoughts by faith.
The Scripture gives a sure promise for a troubled mind. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in thee. Perfect peace is not found in the erasing of every outward image by our own effort, but in staying the mind upon Christ and trusting Him. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, and that peace may be enjoyed even when duties press and sorrows surge around. True peace with God comes only by Jesus Christ, for He has made peace by His blood, and being justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
So we pray for you now, that the Lord would keep your heart and mind through Christ Jesus. May He cleanse your conscience, quiet your thoughts, and help you to fix your mind more and more upon Christ and His word. May He teach you to bring every thought captive to Him, to trust His keeping power when heart and flesh are weary, and to rest in the peace which He alone can give. We ask that He would grant you renewed strength as you wait upon Him, and that you would know that when you awake and when you lie down, you are still with Him.
We commit you to Him who is the God of all peace, praying in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is our peace. Amen.
