We hear your heart and we join with you in bringing this burden before our Heavenly Father, and we thank you for asking in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace.
We understand the distress of having a memory or a tune that repeats in your mind and that you long to be free from. The mind can feel weary when a thought or melody will not leave, and we know God cares deeply about our inner thoughts and desires to bring peace. We are reminded that God does not always simply erase our past, but He redeems and heals and renews our minds so that what once troubled us loses its power over us.
Scripture encourages us in this, for we read you will keep whoever's mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you, Isaiah 26:3. And we are called to be transformed by the renewing of your mind, Romans 12:2, and to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:5. We are also taught to dwell on what is good, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things, Philippians 4:8. And we have the promise that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:7. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds, Psalm 147:3.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Your prayer has been laid before the Lord and we join you in seeking His mercy and help in Jesus Christ's name.
You ask that a tune which troubles your memory might be taken away, that you need not remember it again. We understand the weariness that comes when a thought or a melody returns unbidden and will not depart. The mind itself can be the lair of misery or the nest of happiness, and in the multitude of thoughts within us we greatly need the comforts of God to delight our soul.
Hear what the Scripture says, For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. Your desire is to forget, and that desire is not wrong when what you would forget is vain or defiling. Yet God's way is not only to empty the mind but to renew it. He who was God before this world was made and will be God when this brief creation is no more, is able to renew your strength, to cleanse you by the blood of Christ from all sin, and to give you a nobler tune.
The Psalmist says, How precious also are Your thoughts unto me, O God, how great is the sum of them. And again, When I awake, I am still with You. The way of peace is not found in striving to erase one sound by mere will, for our own strength will one day fail us, but in having our thoughts conformed to God's thoughts and filled with His precious truth.
We would urge you then, as you pray for forgetting, to pray even more for filling. Hate vain thoughts, but love His law. Cultivate thankful thoughts, believing thoughts, and longing thoughts after Christ. Let the Jerusalem above come into your mind. When that tune intrudes, turn at once to Christ, to His Word, to a psalm or hymn that exalts Him, and to prayer. In this way the Lord puts His law to work upon our thoughts and watches over them, and the fruit of holy thoughts will be summer in your soul even when it is winter outside.
Let us pray for you.
Heavenly Father, we come through Jesus Christ alone, our only Saviour, whose blood cleanses from all sin. Thou knowest the burden of this memory and the tune that lingers where it is not wanted. We ask Thee to show mercy, to forgive what needs forgiving, to cleanse what needs cleansing, and to renew the mind of this dear one. Take away the power of this vain remembrance, and in its place give thoughts that are true, pure, lovely and of good report. Let Thy thoughts be precious to this soul, and let waking and sleeping be still with Thee. Grant fresh strength, fresh faith, and a nobler tune upon the heart, that Christ may have the best and first growth of the spirit. Keep this one close to Thyself, and let Thy comforts delight the soul in the multitude of inward thoughts. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Scripture does not promise that God will erase our memory as if removing writing from a tablet, but it does promise to renew our minds and give us peace as we look to Him. We are told to be transformed by the renewing of the mind, and to think on whatever is true, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and worthy of praise. The psalm calls the daughter to forget the former ways of her fathers house not by a mere act of forgetting, but by turning toward the King and finding beauty in Him. Paul also urges us to forget what lies behind and press forward toward what lies ahead in Christ.
So we pray for you not only for the removal of what troubles you, but for the filling of your mind with what is good and healing.
Heavenly Father, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You know the tune and the memories that weigh upon this mind.
