You ask that sounds and images which trouble you might be taken away, and that a face which haunts your thoughts might no longer hold power over you. This is a burden of the mind, and Scripture speaks directly to such trials. The mind itself may become the lair of misery or the nest of happiness, and thoughts are the flowers from which we distil the flavor of life. In the multitude of thoughts within us, we have need of the comforts of God to delight the soul.
Know this, that God's thoughts are not as our thoughts, nor His ways as our ways. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are His thoughts higher than ours. His thoughts toward His people are constant, kind, wise and tender, and they are precious thoughts of love from everlasting. When our own thoughts run in an opposite direction to His, we can have no fellowship with Him. Our prayer must be that our thoughts be conformed to His thoughts, that we may walk with Him.
There is also this truth, that whatever strength we have of body, mind or spirit, if it is our own, it will one day fail us. We need renewing, because we are human and imperfect, and sin that dwells in us drags us down. The promise is sure, that they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. To wait upon Him is to trust Him, to look to Him, to hope in Him alone for the cleansing of the blood of Christ and the power of His Spirit.
Therefore let your mind be filled with better things. Let the heavenly Jerusalem come into your mind. Let Christ have the best thoughts, the cream of them, and the first growth of your spirit. When a sound or an image returns unbidden, do not parley with it, but turn at once to what is revealed by God. Preach to your own soul not your own notions, but what is revealed in His Word, for that is the power of God unto salvation. Seek to have many believing thoughts, thankful thoughts, and longing thoughts after Christ, that your soul may have summer within even when it is winter without.

Your prayer for a clean heart and a quiet mind has been heard, and I join you in bringing it before the Lord who alone can make the heart pure.
You have asked God to take away a sound, an image, and a memory that troubles you. That desire itself is good, for it shows you want to be free and not held captive. Scripture teaches that sin and impure thoughts do not only come from what we do outwardly, but from the heart itself, and blessed are the pure in heart. God does not simply erase the mind as one might delete a post, but He renews it. He calls us to worship Him in spirit and in truth, not only with outward cleansing, but by offering ourselves to Him, by crucifying evil thoughts and unreasonable desires and making our minds a holy sacrifice to Him.
We often think captivity only happens when we are far from home, yet we can be captives even while sitting in our own room. When music, images, and lingering thoughts hold us, we are led like captives by pleasure, and we become slaves to what we keep looking at and listening to. Those things become thorns that choke the word of God in us, and they make us useless for the things of heaven and even for daily life. The freedom Christ gives is not only forgiveness of sin through Him alone, for there is salvation in no other name, but also power to be delivered from the captivity of our desires.
So I encourage you to seek that freedom both in prayer and in practice. If a song or a post on social media stirs temptation or keeps a face before your eyes, turn away from it decisively. Remove the access, put away what causes you to stumble, and do not return to gaze upon it. Fill that space with what is pure, meditate on Scripture, pray in quiet, and keep your mind occupied with what is true and holy. Purity is not only the absence of a memory, but the presence of Christ ruling in the heart. For those who are unmarried, God calls us to chastity and to keep our bodies and minds for marriage alone, which is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and to flee from all that belongs outside of it.
