We join together with you before our heavenly Father and thank Him for your desire to seek Him through fasting and for your burden for the salvation of others.

We hear your heart to fast and to not be consumed by thoughts of food or chasing after eating. Scripture teaches us that fasting is a precious spiritual discipline when done unto the Lord and not for show before others. Jesus said in Matthew 6:16-18 that when we fast we should not make our faces gloomy like the hypocrites but fast in secret and our Father who sees in secret will reward us. We also remember that our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit and we are to honor God with our bodies as taught in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Food itself is a good gift from God to be received with thanksgiving as we read in 1 Timothy 4:4 and whatever we do, whether we eat or drink, we are to do all to the glory of God according to 1 Corinthians 10:31. We want to gently encourage you that biblical fasting is not about punishing the body or obsessing over not eating, but about humbling ourselves, seeking God more fully, and growing in self control which is a fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23. If you find thoughts of food are overwhelming, we encourage you to seek the Lord for strength, for God is faithful and will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able but will provide the way of escape in 1 Corinthians 10:13, and to pursue fasting with wisdom, prayer, and care for your health.

We also join you in praying for the dear woman you mentioned and for all the people in her life, and for the soap opera actresses and the people in their lives. It is a beautiful thing to intercede for the salvation of others, for our God desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth in 1 Timothy 2:3-4 and He is patient not wanting anyone to perish but for all to come to repentance in 2 Peter 3:9. We are thankful that you prayed in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12 and Jesus Himself said I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me in John 14:6. If anyone confesses with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believes in their heart that God raised Him from the dead they will be saved in Romans 10:9.

We pray together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and ask for Your grace and help. Grant our dear friend self control and a peaceful mind, help them to fast with a right heart before You and not be driven by anxious thoughts about food, fill them with Your strength and draw them closer to You during times of prayer and fasting. Help them to steward their body well for Your glory and to find their satisfaction in You above all else. Lord, we lift up the woman who was mentioned and all those connected to her, and we lift up the many actresses and all those in their lives, and we ask that if they do not yet know You as Savior that You would open their eyes, draw them by Your Spirit, and bring them to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Save them, Lord, and let them know the forgiveness and new life that comes only through Your Son. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.

We are thankful you brought these requests to us so honestly. Wanting to fast with a clear mind and not feel pulled toward food is a real struggle, and God sees the sincerity behind your words.

Fasting is meant to be a way to draw near to Him, not a test of willpower you have to pass alone. When thoughts about eating keep coming, it does not mean you have failed. It can help to have someone walk with you in it so you are not carrying the struggle privately.

One steady next step could be to talk with a trusted pastor about what kind of fast would be wise and sustainable for you right now. If you are considering fasting for more than a day, we encourage you to also check in with a medical professional alongside prayer, so your health is cared for as you seek the Lord. Noticing when those thoughts tend to come up can also help you bring them to God in the moment.

We also hear your heart for the woman you named and for the others you mentioned, and for so many you do not even know. We join you in asking God to draw each one to Himself.

Father, we lift our friend to You and ask for peace over thoughts about food and grace in seeking You through fasting. Give wisdom for each step and help to keep turning to You. We also ask for Your mercy and saving work in the life of the woman mentioned and in all those others, that they would come to know You through Jesus. In Jesus name, amen.

Your longing to bring the body into subjection and to keep your thoughts stayed upon the Lord is a good desire, and I thank God for it. To fast is a part of the discipline of Christ's army, and every soldier of the cross must learn to say to self love and self will, Down, busy will, down proud spirit. Our self will usually lies at the root of our greatest griefs. Give way, and you have won. Yield to God and you have obtained the blessing you desire. The bitterness is gone out of grief when you consent to be grieved if God will have it so.

Yet take heed that your fasting be not from mere self reliance or self righteousness, but from a humble heart that seeks the Lord Himself. Set Caution and Self examination at the helm, and cry with the Psalmist, Search me, O God, and know my heart. Let the fast be a yielding of yourself entirely up to the discipline of the Lord, not to win merit, but to wait more fully upon His grace, that your very soul may be joyful in your God. He knows our frame and He will give strength as you watch the signs of His hand and keep your eyes upon Him.

We join you in prayer before the throne of grace.

Heavenly Father, we ask in the name of Jesus Christ Thy Son, through whom alone is salvation, that Thou wouldst grant help to this dear soul who desires to fast aright. Give grace to rule the appetite, to take each thought captive, and to find fullness in Christ rather than in bread. Let this discipline be blessed to the soul, and keep it from self conceit and false confidence.

We pray also for her of whom mention is made, and for all who are bound to her in life, that if they know not Christ, Thou wouldst in mercy save them. We pray for those who live before the eyes of many in the entertainments of this world, and for all connected with them, that Thy Spirit would convince of sin and reveal the Saviour. Thou art the Lord which searches the heart and tries the reins of the children of men. Bring each one to see their need and to cast themselves upon Jesus, who receives all who come unto Him, and whose anger is turned away from every sinner who believes.

Grant that all who are Thine may prove their faith by self examination and by joyful obedience, not trusting in works or feelings, but in Christ alone. May Thy will be done in each life, and may Thy grace be exalted as sinners are brought to salvation. We ask this in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.
