Beloved of All
Your prayer for this nurse is beautiful and it is exactly what God desires from His people. Intercessory prayer is that kind of prayer that reaches beyond our own needs and brings others before God so that He might work in their lives. Prayer takes different forms. There is worship where we honor God for who He is, there is petition where we bring our own needs to Him, and there is intercession where we stand in the gap for a lost world around us. No prayer is really complete without that interceding heart, and more is accomplished through it than we will ever fully know. It is the quiet power behind all that God does.
Scripture shows us this through Moses, who stood before the Lord on behalf of a people who had greatly sinned, asking God to make a covering for their sin. That is the heart of an intercessor, to bring the guilty before a merciful God.
We join with you in asking that if this nurse does not yet know the Lord, God would open her heart to salvation. The Bible is clear that there is only one way for any of us to be saved, and that is through Jesus Christ and His cross. He alone bore our sin and made redemption possible. Prayer itself rests on relationship. When we have come to God through Christ, we can call Him Father and His ear is open to the cry of His children. For someone who is not yet His child, the one prayer God is waiting to hear is God be merciful to me, a sinner. That prayer establishes the relationship that makes all other prayer meaningful. Sin breaks fellowship with God, but the blood of Jesus restores it.
God will not force Himself upon anyone against their will, yet He delights to answer when His people open the door through prayer and invite Him to do what He has long desired to do. He is the One who brings salvation and delivers, and He is patient and merciful toward all.
Thank you for having this burden. Keep bringing her before the throne. God hears the earnest prayer of the righteous and it carries great power. We agree with you now, asking the Lord to draw her to Himself, to reveal Jesus to her clearly, to grant her repentance and faith, and to give you opportunity to show His love to her. May the Spirit of God minister assurance and comfort to you as you wait on Him, and may He bring this dear woman into the hope of eternal salvation that is found only in Christ.
