Beloved of All
Your prayer is heard and understood, and God knows the struggle you are describing. Wanting to be free from having a certain person come to mind, and wanting to be permanently delivered from a persistent thought or habit, is a sincere desire for purity and peace, and God honors that desire.
The real spiritual battle takes place in the mind. Thoughts, images and fantasies can be planted there, and the enemy will try to capture your attention in that place. What matters is what you do with those thoughts when they come. You have been created with the ability to choose, and God calls you to bring every thought into obedience to Christ. Scripture teaches that God sees and discerns the thoughts and intentions of the heart, and that we will be judged not only for actions but for what motivated them. He understands the weight of this inward struggle.
Before Christ, we all walked according to the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath. But God, who is rich in mercy and love, saves us not by our own good works but by His mercy, by washing us and making us new through the Holy Spirit. To be born again is to become a new creation in Christ, and that same Spirit renews us day by day, pouring out grace abundantly because we need it. If the mind is set on the flesh it reaps corruption, but if it is set on the Spirit it reaps life and peace, and Scripture says we have been given the mind of Christ.
God always deals with you with eternity in view. While we often think only of present comfort or immediate relief, He is working in you for an eternal purpose. Even when deliverance feels slow or incomplete, He is shaping you for what will last forever. That does not mean He ignores your present pain, but that His answer will be deeper and more lasting than a quick fix.
In practice, deliverance comes as you cooperate with the Holy Spirit in renewing your mind. When an unwanted thought about that person arises, do not entertain it or play with it in your imagination. Turn it immediately to Jesus, confess it honestly, and ask Him to cleanse and renew your thinking. Fill your mind intentionally with what is good. Fill it with Scripture, with prayer, and with worship that lifts Christ high. What you fill your mind with when you are intentional is what will return to you when your mind is unoccupied. As you consistently choose the Spirit over the flesh, the old pattern loses its power.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I bring this dear one before You. You know the thought pattern and the pull that feels so persistent. I ask that You wash and renew this mind by Your Holy Spirit. Set this person free and make that freedom permanent. Teach them how to take every thought captive to Christ, to turn quickly from what defiles and to fix their mind on what is pure and life giving. Pour out Your mercy and grace abundantly, create a clean heart and steadfast spirit within, and fill them with Your peace that comes from a mind stayed on You. Lead them into the new life You have given in Christ, and keep them walking in it day by day. Amen.
